Career Opportunities at the Whaling Museum

The Whaling Museum is hiring for two full-time staff positions:  Curator of Education and Foundation Relations Manager.  Both will play a vital role in helping the Museum serve its community.

Curator of Education
Reporting to the President, and working with the Senior Management team, the Curator of Education will have 4 primary areas of responsibility:
1) articulating and implementing a strategic vision adopted by the Board of Trustees
2) raising funds necessary to implement education objectives
3) oversight of staff responsible for the apprenticeship program, a comprehensive K-12 school visitation program, volunteer programs and outreach
4) communication of the educational mission and goals to various audiences

Foundation Relations Manager
The ideal candidate is a seasoned writer with a passion for the educational mission of the Museum. He/She understands the Museum’s role both locally and farther afield. An ability to craft cogent and compelling messages and communicate those messages both verbally and in writing is key. Research skills and a knowledge of the non-profit sector is a plus. He/She will work cross-departmentally to identify grant opportunities, develop and write proposals, and maintain/cultivate relationships with a portfolio of funders.
