“CONGRATULATIONS: We wanted to share news of some big promotions in our K9 unit!

Congrats to Sgt. William Dillingham and Lt. Kenneth Almeida, who will now join Capt. Paul Douglas as the command staff in charge of the best K9 team in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Sgt. Dillingham and Lt. Almeida both started as corrections officers years ago, working behind the wall and learning the most important skills in law enforcement: communication and teamwork.

Over the last few years, Sgt. Dillingham and Lt. Almeida have played big roles in the expanded partnerships the Sheriff’s Office has with law enforcement agencies across the state, including our core training group with officers from Fall River Police Department, Somerset Police Department, New Bedford Fire Department and New Bedford Police Department.

Today, the K9 team is busier than ever as this year it’s on track to respond to a record number of incidents across Bristol County and beyond.

“Lt. Almeida and Sgt. Dillingham are two of the very best the BCSO has to offer,” Sheriff Hodgson said. “They’re dedicated, extremely hard-working and always go above and beyond for their brothers and sisters. I couldn’t be more proud of them for their accomplishments and excited for the new heights our K9 team will reach.” Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Dillingham and Lt. Almeida!”-Bristol County Sheriff’s Office.
