Bristol County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Casey Levesque saved a man’s life on May 14 when he pulled over to the side of the road and rendered aid to a person in distress.

Deputy Levesque was on his way home from work on the afternoon of Friday, May 14. While heading south on Route 140 between I-195 and Route 6 around 3:30 p.m., he noticed a few cars pulled over to the side of the road. As he got closer, he noticed a woman giving chest compressions to another woman on the side of Route 140.

Deputy Levesque pulled over in his personal vehicle and approached the people who had started gathering. The woman giving chest compressions said the other woman was breathing on her own and 911 had been called. The woman also said the car the distressed woman was in had pulled over and was still in gear. When Deputy Levesque approached the vehicle, he noticed a man hunched over the driver’s seat unconscious.

Deputy Levesque detected a very faint pulse and unsuccessfully tried to wake the man. A tow truck driver pulled over and had an older Narcan device in his glove compartment. The device was incomplete, but Deputy Levesque was able to piece it together enough to administer two doses of Narcan to the individual, who regained consciousness shortly after. Then the Mass. State Police arrived and took command of the scene.

“If Casey Levesque doesn’t pull over, after already being at work all day. and render aid, there’s no guarantee that individual is alive today,” Sheriff Hodgson said. “Ask anyone around the office about Deputy Levesque, and they’ll tell you what a great guy he is, so it’s no surprise to us that he would do something like this. Great job Casey, we’re all very proud of you.”

  1. I saw this all happen. This gentleman did not just pull over to help he pulled over jumped out of his vehicle and hauled a** to the people in need. It was amazing, at the time I did not realize he was on officer as it happened very quickly but my 9 year old was with me and saw that a few people had pulled over to help and was able to experience the fact that there are still amazing people in the world. So kudos to all of them!
