“The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office K9 team has been on a roll lately.

Last week, Capt. Paul Douglas, Lt. Kenny Almeida and Sgt. William Dillingham partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard and the City of New Bedford Police Department (Official) for some unique training.

Joined by NBPD Sgt. Paul Fonseca and K9 Officer Trevor Sylvia, the team joined the Coast Guard on the vessels for training. The tight quarters of a Coast Guard cutter, the variable wake causing the ship to move back and forth, and the noise made by the choppers made for a very unique environment to train in.

These are valuable conditions for the K9 team as Bristol County has several waterfront communities. Thanks to Petty Officer 2nd Class Jake Waters and the team from the USCG Station Menemsha on Martha’s Vineyard for the invitation.”
