The talented artists of the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford will be at the Whaling Museum Discovery Center brightening the Thursday, May 11 AHA! Event.

The BGC’s Spring Exhibition and fundraiser is key to keeping the art program going; the event runs from 5:30-7 p,m, at the museum (enter through North Water St. side). The exhibition begins at 6 p.m. and is free to attend.

BGC member artwork will be displayed and sold by silent auction alongside works by some of New Bedford’s best artists. The award ceremony and presentations begin promptly at 6, followed by a reception, art auctions, refreshments, live music and collaborative art making with the Earth Artists. Leduc Center of Civic Engagement will have a “recycled craft” table set up for guests to make art during event!

There is also a birdhouse contest among the BGC creators; birdhouses will be auctioned at this event and the winning birdhouse team will receive a cash prize!

All proceeds from the silent Auction supports the BGC Art Program. Cash, checks and credit card payments accepted.

Ms. Outstanding Teen New Bedford will be part of the event and will give a brief presentation to the community about her mission and experience at the BGC. There will also be a break-dance routine by BGC members (no boombox required).

The theme of the May AHA! is creativity; art studios will be featuring new works and downtown will be vibrant with live music.
