Blue Christmas Service: When the Holidays Hurt

image_pdfimage_print

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Dartmouth and The Bridge: A Center for Hope and Healing are collaborating to a community-wide “Blue Christmas” service for those who are struggling to get through the holiday season. This service of hope and healing, offered each year around the time of the Winter Solstice, is a safe place to acknowledge the human pain that many people experience during this difficult time of year and to receive hope and inner-peace by recognizing that the darkness we experience cannot extinguish our light.

Everyone is welcome to attend, particularly those who are grieving a loved one or other losses in their lives; those who have gone through a divorce or broken relationship; those who are unemployed or are experiencing financial hardship; those who have health issues or have a loved one who is terminally ill; those who are stressed, anxious, lonely, depressed or sad; those who are struggling with addiction or are victims of abuse. Family, friends and supporters are welcome to attend as well.

Those who have been away from a church community are particularly invited to attend. The service is open to people of all denominations and backgrounds regardless of self-image or life story.

The “Blue Christmas” service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street, Dartmouth on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 7:00PM.
