Full Weekend Agenda Culminates in Iceland Trip

Bishop Stang High School, a diocesan, co-educational, college preparatory school located on the Southcoast, has announced today its 50th anniversary celebration of its first graduating class on Columbus Day weekend (October 11-13, 2013). Weekend long events culminate with a trip of classmates exploring Iceland.

“The Class of 1963 is very special as they are the founding students of Bishop Stang High School,” said Peter Shaughnessy, President/Principal of Bishop Stang. “Our alumni have always had a strong bond of support with Stang and one another. It’s inspiring to see that after 50 years, the Class of 1963 is so excited to celebrate the high school that was the foundation for so much success and blessings in their lives.”

Reunion weekend is a full calendar of events, including Friday night “Meet & Greet”; Dinner and dancing at Rachel’s on Saturday; Memorial Service for deceased classmates; School tours; and Sunday brunch. Immediately following the weekend events, several of the Class of ‘63 graduates are continuing their celebration with a trip to Iceland.

“It has been a labor of love tracking down so many wonderful classmates and friends from the West Coast to Iceland and even in our own Southcoast backyard,” said Joanne Gracia, Class of ’63 Reunion Chair. “As the first class, we were constantly establishing traditions for others to follow. In that environment, we felt a strong sense of community, many of us made lifelong friends and it was a great place to attend high school. It will be wonderful to visit with so many old friends, some not seen in 50 years.”
