Bishop Stang High School senior, Jeffry McDougal, recently achieved the rank of Eagle, an accomplishment that only about 4% of all Scouts earn. Each Eagle Candidate must plan and supervise an Eagle Service Project. This Service Project demonstrates a Scout’s capacity and willingness to exert his leadership ability in activities that are constructive and worthwhile in his community. Under Jeffry’s leadership in October 2016, the troop completed the no-sew fleece blanket service project. When Jeffry’s Eagle Project was finished he was able to deliver just under 50 blankets to My Brother’s Keeper in North Dartmouth. Those blankets were incorporated into Christmas gift baskets last year which were donated to needy families in the greater New Bedford area.

Jeffry completed his Board of Review on May 22, 2017 and was presented with his Eagle Scout rank medal during his Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, December 3rd. Jeffry presented his BSA Mentor Pin to Mr. Daniel Dias, who has been a positive role model in Jeffry’s life. At Bishop Stang, Mr. Dias has been Jeffry’s guidance counselor, teacher and football coach over the past four years.

Mr. Dias shared at the event, “Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires dedication, sacrifice, hard work, and determination, all of these qualities which you have in spades… A young man who puts others first, Jeffry is a treasured member of the Bishop Stang family.”
