Bishop Stang High School Names Nate Greene Head Boys Soccer Coach

Bishop Stang High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Nate Greene, for the position of Head Boys Soccer Coach. Greene is a Social Studies teacher at Bishop Stang, as well as the moderator for both the Mock Trial and the Media Production Clubs. He taught in both the Fairhaven and New Bedford public school systems prior to joining the Bishop Stang faculty in August of 2017.

Greene, a native of the South Coast region, graduated from Fairhaven High School in 2008, where he was a three sport athlete (Soccer, Basketball and Baseball), and a two sport Team Captain (Soccer and Baseball). Greene was named as a South Coast Conference All Star in Soccer during his senior season.

Greene earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Curry College, majoring in Politics & History, in 2012. He then earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, from UMass Amherst, in 2014. Greene has coached Boys Soccer and Girls Lacrosse on the Varsity level at Fairhaven, and he has also coached Sub-varsity Basketball, both at Fairhaven and at Stang.

Bishop Stang Athletic Director Dennis Golden remarked “We are absolutely excited to have Nate Greene head our Boys Soccer Program. We believe that he will build upon the existing positive tradition in our program, and we believe that he will be a tremendous influence on the lives of our students who play soccer here. Nate is well-liked and respected by students in our building through his teaching, moderating, and coaching. He has a great personal manner, and he is an outstanding communicator. He already represents what we want our coaches to be, and we look forward to his continued efforts on behalf of our students.”

Nate Greene brings great qualities to the table in taking over the program at this juncture. When asked about his feelings concerning leading the Bishop Stang Boys Soccer Program, Greene said “I am excited to be a part of the proud tradition of athletics here at Stang. My experience working in the school community this year has been tremendous, and I am anxious to get to work with the student-athletes in our program. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Boys Soccer Program into this next chapter. ”
