Bishop Stang Celebrates St. Patty’s Day with Cereal Drive

In conjunction with Bishop Stang’s commemoration of the Lenten season and the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, students, under the direction of the National Honor Society and the Student Council recently held a Breakfast Cereal Drive. Student Council representatives accepted donations from members of the school community during homeroom period over a week long period, culminating in the collection of over 700 boxes. The cereal will be distributed to the families of needy children via St. Anthony’s Church Food Pantry located in north end of New Bedford.

Adviser Mrs. Donna McDougal notes, “The way this annual service project comes together always impresses me. Children love to eat breakfast cereal and I know especially during this time of year, the food pantry could really use the extra donations to help feed families and needy members of the community.”
