BayCoast Bank sponsorship will support basketball courts upgrade project in Buttonwood Park

BayCoast Bank Contributes $15,000 to Friends of Buttonwood Park

BayCoast Bank recently awarded Friends of Buttonwood Park a $15,000 sponsorship to be used towards the construction of three new basketball courts in Buttonwood Park. The bank’s contribution has helped the local nonprofit reach an important fundraising benchmark of over $30,000.

Currently, Friends of Buttonwood Park is raising funds as part of Buttonwood on the Move, an initiative to promote physical fitness in the park and fight obesity. Their first project—building three new basketball courts, including bleachers, lighting, and landscaping—is projected to cost $150,000. Construction is scheduled for spring 2014.

To offset basketball court construction costs, Friends is partnering with local businesses and foundations, as well as private donors, to increase project visibility, raise money, and solicit in kind donations.

This summer, Friends approached BayCoast Bank, who offers charitable support to eligible nonprofits throughout the community. The bank accepted their proposal, which emphasized the project’s anticipated health and safety benefits, becoming “Champion” sponsors—partners who donate $15,000–$20,000 to Buttonwood on the Move.

Nicholas Christ, President and CEO of BayCoast Bank, stated, “We are very proud to be a Champion Sponsor of Buttonwood on the Move and to assist with the rebuilding of the park’s basketball courts. I am confident the work being done by the Friends of Buttonwood Park will enhance the community by promoting a healthy, active lifestyle throughout the neighboring areas.”
