Bail set at $340 for man who allegedly flashed handgun during road rage incident on Route 95

On August 31, at approximately 3:05 p.m., Trooper Joseph Bennett of the Concord State Police Barracks responded to a 911 call of a road rage incident on Route 95. The caller reported that a man in a black pickup truck flashed a handgun at him.

With the assistance of Trooper Michael McDermott, Trooper Bennett stopped the vehicle on Route 95 Southbound on the off ramp of Exit 29B to Route 2 westbound in Lexington. The driver, later identified as Matthew McKinney, 26, of Alexandria, NH, was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Trooper Bennett located a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson Shield handgun, two magazines containing a total of 13 .45 caliber rounds of ammunition, a backpack with 32 loose rounds of .45 caliber ammunition and a set of brass knuckles in the vehicle.

Troopers determined that McKinney is not licensed to carry a firearm in Massachusetts.

McKinney was placed under arrest and brought to the Concord Barracks for booking. Bail was set at $340.00.

McKinney has been charged with the following:

– ASSAULT WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON
– UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WITHOUT A LICENSE
– UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A PERMIT
– POSSESSION OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON (Brass Knuckles)
