Musician Spotlight on the Lesser Knowns

Noah
by Noah Griffith

It was a Friday night, near the end of May. I was at the Black Watch Pub looking around at the crowd of people that looked like  younger, tamer versions of myself. I was drinking my vodka soda water & lime (thanks Slow-Carb Diet), waiting for the band I came to see.

The Lesser Knowns are a band from New Bedford that is trying to go BIG and make themselves more than what they are now. You might have heard of them; they are promoting themselves like madmen and doing a hell of a job of it.

Right now they are trying to raise money to go to California so they can record their newest CD in a state of the art studio. If professional recording can make the O’Toole’s sound like champs, then these guys have a serious chance of going big time.

They need to raise a small amount of money (relatively speaking),and you can get some big bonuses for helping them out just a little. For those of who you don’t know them, here are the Lesser Knowns.

Christmas with the Lesser Knowns

What are the names of you members?
Nick LeBlanc – vocals, guitar, bass
Dan Letourneau – bass, guitar, vocals
Dan McMahon – guitar, vocals
Riley Mello – drums, vocals

When and how did you guys all meet?
We all met in the 4th grade pretty much. We’ve been playing music together for about 12 years. At first we were just screwing around and then it became more serious. Our first recordings sounded like horrible acapella that was recorded just using a computer and a mic.

Minus the 1st acapella release… have you any other albums?
Nick did a solo album in 2008 before the band officially got together. Also in October of 2011 Nick recorded and released a second solo album with Riley playing drums entitled, Nick LeBlanc & The Pink Beans.

In 2009 we literally only had five practices before we recorded our first single, “Real Scares Can’t Be Seen.”  Earlier in 2011 we finally released our first full length album called Get Famous.

Here is my experience with your band.  I literally went from hearing you practice in your parents basement and not even knowing your band name to seeing you release your album.  Then you were in SoCo Magazine, then the Standard Times, and now you’re here with New Bedford Guide.  Obliviously, you are smart enough to start with the smaller news and entertainment sources before moving up the bigger more influential ones…

Anyway. So then I’m in the bathroom, brushing my teeth, and all of a sudden I hear music coming from the living room that sounds very strangely like my favorite song from your Get Famous album called, “Drinking Schiltz with Jesus.”  I went to check it out, and there your album is on t.v., being featured on NECN’s morning show in their local music section: I almost s*** myself and had to shower again. So, the question is: How have you become so good at promoting yourself?

At this point they were laughing their asses off at me.

HAHAHA, this guy is the best interviewer ever! (Yes, they really said that.)

We do absolutely everything and everything we can; 100% shameless self-promotion all the way. Like you said, we spoke with you guys at Local Oracle about promoting our shows, we’ve been in the Standard Times and SoCo Magazine. We have even been emailing professional musicians AND WE’VE BEEN GETTING EMAILS BACK FROM THEM; it’s the best! Even if we’re at a party, we’ll stop the music that is playing and put our music on. Whatever we can do.

The Lesser Knowns are great live.

Who are your favorite bands and how do you describe your own music?
Everything from AC/DC and Sonic Youth, to Neil Young and bands like Led Zeppelin.  Danny explained it like this: “I’m halfway through a two year graduate program to get my MFA in Music Composition with a focus in what they call ‘Experimental Sound Practices,’ which is focuses on electronic and experimental music. But I don’t think we’ve ever thought, ‘Oh, well if we do experimental music, let’s just throw some of that in here.’ I think it informs our mindset more generally, and leaves the door open to trying new things if it fits the music. There are certainly elements in the kinds of sonic qualities you see in that music that we incorporate into our music, but they can be two very different beasts as well.”

(If you ask me they are rock n’ roll)

What is all this Kickstarter business you are talking about now on Facebook.  You mentioned using it to help you raise money for your newest venture?
We are using Kickstarter to help us raise money so that we can fly to California to record our next album at Danny’s college that has state of the art musical recording equipment. Kickstarter is a program set up where anyone can submit their goal/idea in hopes of finding others to donate money to help accomplish their goal. You set the amount you need to raise and the duration of time you want to raise the money in. If you don’t meet or exceed your goal by the date you put forth you lose the money and NO ONE gets charged or loses their potential investment. We need to raise $1000.00 by August 24th

To learn more about the Kickstarter program, click here. Click here to see the Lesser Knowns Kickstarter page.

Since Danny lives in CA and travels back and forth for shows, what is the practice situation like?
Yeah he does. As far as band practice goes, Nick, Riley and I (Dan) practice at Riley’s weekly, and send demos of the new stuff over to Danny via email so he can learn the new songs and write his bass parts. He’ll do the same from California with his demos. It’s strange, but when he comes back, it’s like he never left. We always seem to pick up right where we left off.

For instance, before the Blackwatch gig we only had a couple practices, but Danny managed to learn three new songs.  I think that’s one of our greatest assets–the fact that we have such great band chemistry that it doesn’t matter when, where or how often we play, we’re always able to put forth a great show.

So what’s the end goal? I’ll be very real: People aren’t interested in just giving money away, especially to musicians who don’t want to work “real jobs” and just want to play music. There has to be a passion that makes it worth spending money on you, and everyone has to see it.  They are not going to be giving you money to go to California if they don’t believe in you or think you’re not going to be a band three weeks later.

The Lesser Knowns always light up the stage.

Our end goal is to turn our intense passion for creating and playing music into a career. There isn’t a moment during the day when we’re not thinking about the band and what needs to be accomplished or planned- things like booking shows, making flyers, updating websites, writing new material, etc.

I think we really have a unique combination of music, talent and personality that is capable of carrying us a long way, but not without aid and support from our fans, of course. I think anytime someone feels as driven and committed to a project as we do about the band, it’s a sign of things to come that definitely should not go overlooked or unnoticed.

If someone donates money what do they get?
$1 gets your name on our “Thank You” list on our CD Cover.
$5 gets you a digital download of the album.
$10 gets you an autographed copy of the CD and free digital download.
$100 gets you…a date with one of the members!

Well, you’ve got $10 from my wallet. I was not as focused at your age as you guys are, but if I had as good of a grip on my dream as you do, I would want someone to help me out with a donation.  Plus, I’d pay that anyway for your CD so there’s really no downside.  Alright well you guys get going; it’s your turn to get up on stage and rock out.

The Lesser Knowns next show is June 20th, at Piano’s in New York City.

Cheers!

Sinners & Saints Tattoo and Body Piercing

Noah
by Noah Griffith

While surfing around Facebook I see lots of things: Friend requests from people I barely know, new pictures being uploaded, people checking themselves in at different locations, and invites to upcoming events. Most times I am already aware of the event (thanks to Local Oracle), and like you, most of the time I don’t really care for any of the events I’m invited to.

The other day an event popped up that was different: Fender Bender, put on by Sinners & Saints Tattoo and Body Piercing.  I was so interested that I actually clicked on the link to investigate.  Being the avid collector of tattoos that I am, I had  known about Sinners & Saints as a tattoo parlor for quite some time, but I had never been there.

So I did what any red blooded American would do: I scheduled a tattoo appointment at Sinners & Saints four days later and went in head first to find out the scoop. Apologies to my Nana, but any excuse to get a new tattoo is a good one.

Inside Sinners & Saints.

Walking into the shop, the whole vibe and atmosphere made me feel a bit manlier. The walls were covered with freak show pictures, and the place had a rockabilly/punk rock theme.  Not too far off from your traditional tattoo shop, but definitely different enough to set itself apart.

While waiting for my tattoo artist to finish drawing up the new piece of artwork that will forever be embedded on my skin (again, sorry Nana), I was able to sit down with the owner of Sinners & Saints, Roger Chouinard, to find out what this Fender Bender event is all about and how he became in charge of it. I was about to find out some very interesting information about this not so “traditional” local tattoo parlor.

So Roger, What is this Fender Bender event that you are putting on?
Roger: It is taking place in Onset on July 30th, 2011. It is the 1st of what will be an annual, FREE, fun, and family-oriented event that is a great excuse for families to get out and have fun. There are going to be a Hot Rod and motorcycle show/contest and its just a great event that is FAMILY FRIENDLY. I remember growing up and LOVING it when my dad would bring me to a car show. I want to give that experience back, and it’s a lot of fun and excuse for me to see and play with cars and bikes.

There will be custom made trophies and plaques—Best Stock Hot Rod… etc, will be given out after being decided by own panel of local judges.

And you put this all together by yourself?
I did all the organizing. It’s a ton of work but I had a lot of help from the Onset Bay Association (OBA). All the money… I should say, any money that is raised will be donated the OBA to help them put on more free public events. Onset, Wareham, and the entire area is starving for things to do. I really want this to be a fun, free family event that people enjoy and have a great time just being outside.

Are you involved with other events? I mean you weren’t just sitting around one day and said, I don’t have a enough stuff to do, let’s put together a great big outdoor event.
Like I said I always use to go to these types of events with my father and I absolutely loved it. I have been involved with bands and touring and putting on events for most of my life. I use to tour and work with bands like Twisted Sister (D. Snider), and Penny Wise in Canada.  Playing to over 12,000 people; now that was a blast.

Another from inside Sinners & Saints.

I have done also done a lot of work with other events, specifically related to the Station fire that happened in RI several years ago. I lost a couple friends and had even more friends that were closely affected by that horrible tragedy.

Through the shop here we are always supporting whatever local charities and events. We have supported and worked with benefits for breast cancer and cerebral palsy, and even some of the local sports teams.

So you’re really giving back to the community that you are involved with. That’s awesome. As you know, tattoos and body piercing have been around for 100’s of years but it only just became legal in Massachusetts to tattoo someone in 2001. Even though tattoos and piercings are becoming more popular and accepted by the mainstream, they still hold a dark stereotype, but Sinners & Saints seem to go completely against that.

Tell me a little bit about the shop: How long has your shop been open? How did you become involved with tattooing?
Well the shop has been open for five years now.  We have five artists and one piercer/artist. But besides receiving tattoos I’ve never been the one behind the [tattoo] gun.

Wait, you’re not a tattooist yourself? You own a tattoo parlor but don’t actually tattoo?
Haha yeah. I had stopped touring and doing all the band stuff to concentrate more on family. I was literally lugging planks in the wonderful New England winter and looked up at my best friend (who was a tattoo artist) when I said, “Enough of this, lets open a tattoo shop.” He said, “Okay,” and that was that.

He ran the business with me for 6 months before he had to leave do to outside circumstances. But I kept my head down and kept trudging. Most of my entire tattoo artist staff actually used to own their own shops haha. Andy (my tattoo artist) use to own his own place in Taunton actually. I just keep working at it and things have continued to be on the up and up.

I did this interview at 12pm on a Monday, not a holiday, just a normal Monday. Every 5 minutes the door was opening up and new people were coming in. I honestly couldn’t believe how busy the shop was, on a MONDAY MORNING. It was something that I would have imagined seeing at like 6 o’clock on a Friday or noon on a Saturday.

Sinners & Saints was named after a bar that appears in the Punisher comic books.

So you went from the band stuff, to hauling planks in the snow,  to opening up your own tattoo parlor. May I ask what your education is?
I just have a high school diploma. I once took a marketing class that I failed but I learned a lot from. Like I said, I’ve been involved with setting up and promoting gigs and big events for a long time. It’s about marketing to the right crowd and knowing your audience. I’m doing what I love and having fun doing it.

How is it having a shop in Wareham? Obviously there is no lack of customer base (judging from the door barely being able to stay closed).
It’s great. I grew up here. We actually just opened another shop over in Marshfield. It’s hard to go anywhere and not run into potential customers or people who know me. I’m an easily recognizable guy and everyone always wants to talk to me about “new artwork”, or ”Can you fix this piece?” I get stuff like that all the time.  I try to keep business in the shop but its hard. We sponsor little league team, junior basketball association, do the whole benefit thing. Summer is obviously busier than winter but its steady.

Who was your most memorable customer?
We had an old lady come in who is one of the remaining Holocaust survivors and she had us tattoo her serial numbers on her. She was the sweetest old lady. I still see her out and about every so often and she always comes up to me and gives me a big hug.

Where did the name come from?(Without skipping a beat he answered)
It was the name of a bar in the Punisher movie haha.

fender bender #1 new bedford guideAwesome.  OK back to the Fender Bender event. Are there still openings for people to get involve with this if they want to bring in a car or bike?
Venders should contact me by the week prior to the Fender Bender. Cars and bikes can just show up.  That is, unless they are coming with a massive amount of bikes or cars; then they should contact me ahead of time so I can put some space aside.

I want to express this to everyone. THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT. Some guy came by trying to pitch an idea to me about selling calendars of half naked girls and I told him to get out of here.
There will be NO ALCOHOL…but there will be plenty of face painting for kids (and I adults too).

It is July 30th 2011 in Onset Center from 11am to 4pm

There will be former WWE Wrestling Stars (from when it was WWF), midget wrestling, and of course, bikes and Hot Rods.  I will also have a whole line of “work” jackets for sale, super cheap.

Oh, and the rain date is the 31st of July (the following day).

Thanks Roger. It was fun and very interesting speaking with you.

Murals by M-C Lamarre

Noah
by Noah Griffith

As a writer for New Bedford Guide, my goal is to bring you information on events and activities here in the South Coast.  However, these events and activities would never take place unless there were people involved.  This area is packed with many incredible people doing incredible things, and I love sharing their stories with you.

Having said that, I would like to introduce you to M-C Lamarre.  She is a local artist that designs and creates- to scale- murals of (mainly) sports images, with of course The Green Monster being the most requested. The best part is that she is able to do this as her full-time job!

Here is just a glimpse into her story and a brief look on how she is making her mark on the United States, one mural at a time.

m-c-lamarre-pour-farm-tavern
The new mural at Pour Farm Tavern.

So M-C, how are you doing?
I am doing well thank you. Very busy.

Let me start things off on completely the wrong foot by asking how old are you?
Haha. I’m 37.

I have seen the pictures on your website of the murals that you have done in other cities, but to see one up close in person is really amazing. How many days did it take you to complete the mural at Pour Farm?

catwalk m-c lamarre new bedford guide
The mural M-C did in the Catwalk. It covers the whole back wall!

Thank you again. Ummm… I started on a Monday and it was completed by the Thursday of that same week.

Wow, I would have thought it would have taken longer. It must be all the paint fumes that keep you looking so young.  What is going on with the banner of Fenway that you have up in the Pour Farm Tavern?
I created a 4′ x 18′ portable scoreboard on canvas that was temporarily installed at the Pour Farm Tavern for the month of April for AHA!  I have been getting requests for a “rentable” Monster murals for folks looking to infuse a bit of Fenway into a graduation party, birthday party, or even for a Wiffle Ball tournament.  I thought this would be a great way to do that…. it can be hung on a wall, on the house, in a function room, or on a fence.  If you would like to have this Monster on the Move at your venue, let me know through my website.

Where are you from, and what brought you to our wonderful city of New Bedford?
Well I was born in Concord, MA, and raised a Sox fan in southern New Hampshire.  I moved south of Fenway five years ago, to New Bedford, to support my career as an artist.  Cheaper parking and rent!

Obviously you’re a painter. How did you get into painting GIGANTIC murals, and are they all of the Green Monster?
I have always had an innate creative ability.  However, painting was not a medium I favored.  I have taken only one painting class, and it was a color study class I took while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I have painted a few Patriots themed rooms, one Celtics, and no Bruins or Revolution.  I am trying to visit all Major League ballparks, and in doing so have come to learn that there is nothing quite as iconic in all the sports stadiums I have visited as the Green Monster.

West Coast Monster, done in Tacoma, Washington.

One painting class and I’ll be able to start doing this?! There has got to be more behind that.
Well art for me is a passion.  In terms of work I spent eight years in Art Administration creating opportunities for artists that I would much rather have afforded myself.  In 2004, on Leap Year Day, I took a leap of faith ….and for the past seven years I have been self-employed as a full-time artist.

When I first started painting murals it was at the request of siblings and friends interested in creating a fun space for their little ones on the way.  It seemed as though the majority were rooms for little girls.  I have 13 nieces and nephews, with 10 girls and 3 boys.  When the opportunity arose to paint a room for my nephew Stephan, I asked my brother and his wife if I could paint a room inspired by Fenway Park.  I painted his room in May of 2004, before the Sox won the World Series.  In the Fall of 2004 I painted my first full reproduction of the Green Monster.

You said the other day that part of the inspiration for painting a Green Monster in every state was that because of you weren’t able to travel as much as you would like. Now that you are starting to become well known as the go-to person for these sorts of murals, how has traveling been?
At the request of transplanted Red Sox fans, I have packed my brushes and traveled to bring a piece of “home base” to clients.  As far as painting Fenway Park, I have done murals in Tacoma, WA, Hobe Sound, FL, Cary, NC and Lorton, VA, to name a few.  My slogan is: “Have Brushes. Will Travel.” I am up for going anywhere. I have made it a quest to paint a Green Monster mural in every state before Fenway turns 100 in April of 2012.  I am calling it the “Monster Challenge.”

Progress on M-C's Monster Challenge.

It’s funny though: One of my more memorable paintings is one that most Red Sox fans are not happy with. In November of 2010, I was flown down to Del Ray, Florida by Bucky ****** Dent himself, to paint a Monster depicting his 1978 home run against the Sox for the Bucky Dent Baseball School.

I can see why Sox fans wouldn’t be too happy with that. Well back to New Bedford and a little more personal stuff: Where is your favorite place to eat in New Bedford?
Choose any spot on Purchase Street between Union and William and you really can’t go wrong.  I enjoy Cafe Balena as a special treat… it takes me back to my days in Italy.

What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
I enjoy building things, wood working, the beach in the winter, and doing my part to keep NB clean… Litter Sucks!

To learn more about M-C’s Monster Challenge or to see the locations of her Monsters painted to date, visit www.mclamarre.com. She also has a pretty good blog you can view HERE.  This past spring she completed a Monster Road Trip making painting pit-stops in CT, PA, VA, NC, and NJ. Time for Red Sox Nation to step up to the plate!

If you know someone that you think should be spotlighted please let us know, email Info@NewBedfordGuide.com. Provide us with a name, contact information, and a short paragraph on why they should be chosen for a spotlight. There are hundreds of interesting people doing amazing things in the South Coast area that the majority of us know nothing about, like M-C Lamarre, Frank C. Grace, and Adrian Johnson. Help us spotlight these amazing people!

Outdoor Dining and Drinking 2011

Noah
by Noah Griffith

Its summer time again here in the South Coast and after all the snow and the rain, and surviving the predicted end of the world… it has taken a toll on all of us. It’s finally nice outside and we all want to be outside while the sun is shining . We want to be playing volleyball, going to beach parties, having  bonfires, watching fireworks and wearing bathing suits, bikini’s, shorts and flip flops. While I can’t guarantee that you will have a good time, and I can’t choose what you are going to be doing, I can help and give you some guidance to help you find the perfect summer day.

I have divided up all the places I could find where you can drink and dine outdoors this summer in the South Coast into three categories: Restaurants, Bars, and Quick Stops/Coffee/Cafés. Each category is arranged in alphabetical order. I may have missed a place or two but I assure you it was not from lack of trying.

Keep checking back whenever you’re looking for some place to go. These places will be around all summer, and I will be updating the article as I find more places!!!

“A classy clam shack with a spacious outdoor patio. An ideal New England summer restaurant that takes full advantage of local farms and fishermen. Comfortable and casual atmosphere for locals and vacationers.” – The Phantom Gourmet

Need I say more? I mean if the Phantom Gourmet says it, is there anything that I could say that is going to top it or make you want to go more or less? I mean he has his own TV show on cable! The Back Eddy is the perfect spot to stop by when leaving the beach (Horseneck State Park, Westport Town Beach, or Bakers Beach) or if you want to go on a nice drive and get out of the city. It has several outdoor seating areas and if you own a boat its one of only a couple places that you can pull right in, dock our boat, and walk up to the bar. Show up in your casual attire or in your bathing suit. If you don’t have a boat don’t worry, there is a parking lot. Click here for driving directions.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bayside-Restaurant

Located at the end of the back road journey to Horseneck State Beach (the only route that truly intelligent locals take) lies this great eatery. I’ll be honest; I have not been here for a long time but used to frequent this location with my family on the way to Horseneck for some delicious early morning/beat-the-crowd-to-the-beach breakfast. And if I remember correctly they have awesome stuffed quahogs. Click here for directions and after you stop by post a comment and let me know how everything is. They are still around and open year round. That says a lot for such a small place located in a VERY seasonal location!!!

Bittersweet Farms: 438 Main Road, Westport, MA. (508) 636-0085
www.lafrancehospitality.com

This restaurant is located in Central Village in Westport. Once you get there you completely appreciate the fact that it is “out of the way,” and that you are able to take in the beautiful scenery while enjoying 5-star quality food. Go for a romantic dinner for two by the fire or outside on their new patio. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, they offer live musical entertainment. Black Bass Bar & Grille:  3 Water Street, South Dartmouth, MA. (508) 999-6975
www.blackbassma.com

Located in the small, beautiful and wealthy town of Padanaram, South Dartmouth, you’ll find the Black Bass Bar & Grille.  The front of the building faces the Padanaram harbor and the interior is very small and quaint.  In the back is a large outdoor seating area.  Plastic chairs and tables rest on crushed white seashells, all covered by a white tent that allows patrons the chance to enjoy the outdoors and relax with an almost beach-like feeling. Click here for driving directions.  While you’re there make sure you take the time to walk around and take in this neat little town.

Candleworks Restaurant: 72 North Water Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. (508) 997-1294. www.thecandleworksrestaurant.com

Candleworks Restaurant is one of New Bedford’s more historic buildings/restaurants.  The building is called Candleworks because it is the actual location where workers made candles from whale oil that was once so treasured.  The restaurant is located just minutes from new Fairfield Inn, Marriott. This classy restaurant is also the only place where you can eat and drink outside around beautiful personal fire-pits that will make those chilly summer evenings more comfortable. Check out the food specials and nightly entertainment Wednesday-Saturday.  Click here for directions.

Cotali Mar Restaurante: 1178 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford, MA 02746. (508) 990-0066
www.cotalimarrestaurante.com

Cotali Mar Restaurante is the one of the few places on this list I have never eaten at, but after visiting it I was truly taken back. The outdoor area is beautiful; it’s probably the largest outdoor bar area that I’ve seen in New Bedford. There’s a bar located outdoors (that seems to be open only on the weekends) and a fire place at one end.  I’ve never had the food at Cotali Mar, but when I talked to customers I knew eating outside they insisted that the food was “really good.”  Cotali Mar Restaurante looks amazing and has a beautiful outdoor dining and drinking area.  Click here for driving directions.

Davy’s Locker: 1480 East Rodney French Boulevard, New Bedford, MA . (508) 992-7359.
www.davyslockerrestaurant.com

Davy’s Locker has been voted Best Seafood 11 years in a row and has two outdoor seating areas.  There is a covered area attached to the main building, so you’ll be protected from the elements.  Approximately 50 yards from the main building is the famous Tiki Hutt which is located directly on the water.  The Tiki Hutt is truly a place to hang out and get the most of those summer rays. $3.75 for Guinness and ALL other drafts (Miller Lt, Sam, Seasonal, Blue Moon).

Davy’s Locker and Tiki Hutt are motorcycle friendly with private motorcycle parking spots. The bars are located right next to New Bedford’s south end beaches and historic Fort Taber.  Click here for driving directions

Gateway Tavern & Grille: 371 Marion Road, Wareham, MA. (508) 291-6040.
www.thegatewaytavern.com

Gateway Tavern & Grille is Wareham’s greatest little secret, with outstanding food, large portions and great prices. It’s a local spot that faces west, right on the edge of a marsh (where its huge covered back deck is located). At dusk this is arguably one of the most beautiful scenes on earth.  The Gateway Tavern & Grille has no entertainment, just good service, food and drinks.  Click here for driving directions.

Gene’s Famous Seafood: 146 Huttleston Avenue, Fairhaven, MA. (508) 996-5127

This place has been here forever and is another of the few places on the list I have never been too. The reviews read very well on Trip Advisor and Urban Spoon. They have a small outside patio area. I looked around online and found that all reviews gave it at least 4 out of 5 stars, so it seems like this is a solid place to grab some delicious seafood. Click here for driving directions.

Inner Bay: 1339 Cove Road, New Bedford, MA (508) 984-0489
www.innerbay.com

Located on the coast in the South End of New Bedford is this wonderful little spot that serves authentic Portuguese and American cuisine. It has beautiful outside patio deck located on the second floor, and while it is not directly located on the water, it has a fantastic ocean view. Entertainment starting on Thursday all through the weekend and karaoke on Sundays. The Inner Bay has plenty of room on the second floor (inside), and would love to host your special function. Oh ya, I can’t forget the parking lot that is literally the size of a shopping mall. Click here for driving directions.

Kinsale Inn: 13 Water Street, Mattapoisett, MA. (508) 758-4922.
www.kinsaleinn.com

The Kinsale Inn is the oldest operating inn in the United States.  It’s old, beautiful, with tons of original wood work.  Kinsale has an all Irish menu if you sit in the Pub on the left side of the building, and now on the right side– an upscale dining that serves traditional fine wine and dining food. But of course they are on our list because of their lovely front deck that is enclosed by screen-netting. Sit outside and have your dinner or enjoy a lovely pint.  Kinsale has specials every night of the week and live entertainment on weekend nights, with a fabulous Sunday “all you can eat” Irish Brunch. However the only menu that is available on the outside porch is the Irish one. Click here for driving directions.

The Pasta House: 100 Alden Road Fairhaven, MA. (508) 993-9913
www.thepastahouse.net

Fairly new to the outside dining patio club is the Pasta House in Fairhaven.  The restaurant has great home-made pasta, food specials, and great drinks that you can enjoy on their outdoor patio.  The umbrellas provide shade and make this spot even more attractive.  Business casual dining is the best way to describe the atmosphere at The Pasta House.  Whether you’re out with family and friends or just flyin’ solo, you’ll feel comfortable and at home on The Pasta House patio.  Click here for driving directions.

Down the Hatch: 56 Goulart Memorial Drive, Fairhaven, MA. (508) 993-3434.

Down the Hatch is a great beach bar. Until this year everything this bar had to offer was only outdoors; patrons simply eat, drink and play under a tin roof that covers the front area. This year they have opened up an indoor portion. Could this have been the last winter we go without DTH? I hope so.  While the bar feels like it is out of the way, the drive is nice, quick, and the food and drinks are worth it.  There is live entertainment at different times of the week.  Oh ya, and this year they have upgraded their outdoor area so you are completely protected from the elements, Cha-Ching! One of the newest bars that are calling the South Coast home, Fathom’s is truly one of a kind here in New Bedford. It has the strongest argument for the freshest seafood (the owner also owns Fleet Fisheries, one of the area’s largest fisheries). The outdoor patio is covered and beautiful. It sits right on the New Bedford Harbor and boats can even rent a slip, pull right up and walk up right from the water to the back door (all guests welcome).  Deck is available for reservations and functions. When the bar is open the deck is open (weather permitting). Click here for driving directions.

The Ice Chest: 136 Huttleston Avenue Fairhaven, MA. (508) 992-2337.

The Ice Chest is one of the areas busiest bar and grilles.  It’s a fun bar that serves great food.  The Ice Chest provides a wonderful outside deck patio located directly off the main bar room where you can enjoy ice cold beer, great food specials every day, live entertainment and nothing is overpriced.  The Ice Chest is extremely biker friendly, every year hosting a blessing of the bikes and the ULTIMATE PARTY—Chest Fest—over 500 bikes simply take over whatever road they are on. Not very child friendly (ask the owner, I fully support him, “Hey it’s a bar, I don’t need parent’s complaining because someone is swearing…”-D.T). I agree, when I’m out I don’t really want to hang around kids. Click here for driving directions.

There’s a large parking lot so you don’t need to worry about street parking. On the interior there’s a small dance floor, pool table, karaoke on Thursday and Sunday nights (which is awesome, I’ve been there, it’s one of the most fun, laid back places for karaoke). No, it’s not the fact that it is located on the water, or the fact that you can ride your boat or Jet Ski right up to the bar, or that it’s seasonal. It is has a minimum age requirement of 25 (after 8pm). Yup, that’s right, if you’re under the age of 25 (born before today in 1986) turn around and head somewhere else. Jimmy and the Hats

Noah
by Noah Griffith

Spring is here (somewhere), summer is coming (allegedly), and everyone is getting the urge to get outside and enjoy some good weather. I don’t know about you, but my music selection changes with the mood I’m in, and the weather has a lot to do with that.

Rainy Days: I might find myself listening to some depressing or melancholy music.

Cold Days: Something that warms me up, or maybe something that gets my blood pumping.

Workout Music: Probably something hard or fast that I can smash something to.

Then of course, there is Summer Music: Reggae, rockabilly, country, oldies-but-goodies, pop music, maybe some good old shanty music, and one of my favorites… surf rock!  Luckily here in the South Coast area, we’ve got all those musical styles covered.

jimmy hats new bedford guide
Jimmy & The Hats

Jimmy and The Hats was a band I had never heard of until the other day when I happened to walk into the Pour Farm Tavern for an open mic night.  They made such an impression that as soon as they were finished playing I tracked them down and said, “You guys are awesome! You have to let me interview you for New Bedford Guide!” They had heard of NBG and immediately agreed, so with that said, let me introduce Jimmy and the Hats!!!

Noah: I just heard your music and I have 3 words to say: It. Was. AWESOME!  Where do you normally perform?
We started out by first playing at an open mic night at Mirasol’s Cafe in Dartmouth, which turned out to be an acoustic-only event… they should have told us that before-hand.

The promoters didn’t want us to play once they saw all of our equipment, so we considered playing in the parking lot.  We convinced them otherwise and Jimmy and the Hats played out for their first time. Since then, we’ve played at Pour Farm Tavern almost every Monday night, and it’s just snowballed from there.

There are not a lot of instrumental bands out there, never mind in this area.  What inspired you to become an instrumental band? Was it the lack of singing ability?
We’ve had a few stints with different singers, but no success yet.  Plus, none of us have gifted vocal chords so our status as an instrumental band is really due to not having someone who can sing.

jimmy and the hats new bedford guide
The boys performing live.

How long have you guys been together? Is this the first time for many of your members being in a band?
The band consists of Keith Nadeau, Cody Grodzki, and Justin Alexandre. Cody and Keith have been in a few different bands together over the years, and this is Justin’s first band experience.  We’ve been jamming together over the past year or so, but we just recently formed Jimmy and the Hats about 4 months ago.

Do you guys have jobs outside of Jimmy & the Hats?
We all used to work at Carabiners indoor climbing in New Bedford. Keith and Cody still work there, but Justin doesn’t work there anymore. Justin and Cody go to Umass and Keith spends his days kicking ass and taking names:  Don’t get on his bad side!

Is there really a Jimmy in the band, or is it a stage name? You are obviously the front man.  Was any of the other members offended at being labeled as “hats”? Did anyone want to be a “vest” maybe a nice pair of “overalls” or “slacks?”

Haha. Well, I guess I ended up being the front guy because the mic happened to be closer to me when we first started playing out, but  there isn’t anyone in the band actually named Jimmy.  And I don’t think anyone would consider themselves to be “the hats.” It’s really just a funny band name that we stuck with.

However, we do all have stage names, but they’re more mostly just for fun.

For all the ladies out there: Are you single?
Sorry ladies…we’re all taken.

Have you ever been out on tour?
We haven’t yet, we hope to see a tour or two in our future.

Any big shows or events coming up?
We just started gigging out recently. We’ve mostly played at the Pour Farm’s open mic every Monday night.  We realized that we might be a little to loud for you average open mic act, so we are looking for venues that we could play at. We got a chance to play at the Music for Mutants Festival at the Black Watch Pub. We had a blast playing out…and we got our first encore!

Lastly, is there anything I didn’t ask that you would like to say?
We’re just a few guys who are looking to have a good time and play some good music. So far we have been well received by local people, and we are having a blast.

That’s awesome, and congrats your hard work is hopefully starting to pay off.
And to all the bar/restaurant/venues that are looking for some new music that everyone can enjoy, definitely check out Jimmy and the Hats.  They would be awesome for an outdoor bar or deck.

You can check out Jimmy and the Hats on Facebook, or contact the band directly at: jalexandre1@umassd.edu

Tough Mudder

Noah
by Noah Griffith

“Holy sh**,my legs are going to fall off…”

Those are the words that kept repeating in my head between bits of insane laughter.  You know when you’re at the point where things can’t ANY worse, and the only thing you can do is laugh?  That is how I felt this past weekend (May 7th & 8th) as one of over 14,000 people who competed in Tough Mudder.  Not only was this New England’s very first chance to host the competition; it was also the largest athletic event in Vermont’s history.

It took place at Mount Snow in Vermont, and while I sit here three days later, muscles no longer aching, any bad thoughts that I had as I left the mountain are almost gone. Now, the only thoughts that surface when I think about Tough Mudder are ones of fun, achievement, accomplishment, and mud…I won’t ever forget the mud.

What is Tough Mudder?

The Tough Mudder not a race, but a challenge. Designed by ex-British Special Forces, it’s an obstacle course ranging in distance from 7-12 miles, with 24 or more obstacles scattered throughout the course. The Vermont Tough Mudder has been called one of the hardest of all the courses in the United States (there are also about 20 locations worldwide) because of the fact that it is on a New England ski mountain.  That, combined with the fact that in each Tough Mudder, the obstacles become more creative and challenging than the last. All participants who complete on the Vermont course endured over 13,700 feet of elevation change and 7,000 feet of climbing on the ten mile course, all while battling 28 obstacles.

Click on the picture for the interactive map on the Tough Mudder website.

Once I found out about this event I was hooked and immediately tried to put a team together. I originally received many responses from people saying, “Oh yeah, sure.  I’ll definitely do that.”  Then, after hearing about some of the obstacles on the course immediately changed their minds: “There’s no way I am running up and down a mountain six times and getting electrocuted!”

Another deterrent for people wanting to take part is that, unlike most races where nearly everyone finishes, Tough Mudder brags that only about 78% of the people who start the race actually finish it. That’s why they were surprised when the  participants in New England event  had an 83% finishing rate on one of the most difficult  courses ever.  That’s damn right.

noah griffith tough mudder nbg
Noah Griffith: Tough Mudder

The cost to participate is anywhere from $60-$180, depending on when you sign up; the earlier you sign up, the cheaper it is. The  purpose of Tough Mudder is to support the Wounded Warrior Project.  At the beginning of the event all participants take part in saying the Tough Mudder Pledge:

As a Tough Mudder I pledge that…
I understand that Tough Mudder is not a race but a challenge.
I put teamwork and camaraderie before my course time.
I do not whine – kids whine.
I help my fellow Mudders complete the course.
I overcome all fears.

Training:

For me, training consisted of swimming approx 3,000 yards several times a week to help build up cardio and shorten my recovery time.  I also used a special weight and muscle training program that BJ Cardoza set up for me at his gym, Pinnacle Strength. After having completed the event and finding out whatever rest I was granted on the course (which usually came in the form of waiting in lines for obstacles), the only advice I can give for training is to do core exercises:. Also  do the stair machines and other leg workouts, or just start running up very steep hills. Not much else can prepare you because there’s nothing else like it.

Of course don’t forget about your diet.  You’ll need lots of protein and potassium to get your muscles ready, and electrolytes for the nonstop movement and shock your body will experience jumping into 45 degree water six times throughout the course.

The Event

We set out for Vermont the 7th and stayed in a motel approxiamately 20 miles away from Mount Snow. The next day we woke up bright an early to prepare ourselves for the impending torture; after all the training and preparation, we finally started the race.

tough mudder obstacles new bedford guide
Tough Mudder events

It seemed that there was no end to it, continuously going up and down and then back up the mountain.  Eventually we reached the point where all we wanted were real obstacles to go through to give our legs a rest from hiking up the mountain.

The first real obstacle was The Death March, which covered about 1.5 miles, straight up the mountain. It was a real slap in the face, and a warning  for what was to come.  Killa Gorilla was one of my favorite obstacles.  It required us to go up and down a 40-yard stretch of muddy mountain terrain four times, but that was towards the beginning before my legs felt like dog meat.

Heading down the mountain at any point was fine unless you tried to stop moving, in which you would have had better luck trying to stop running down a slip-n-slide. At every point there was mud, snow, or muddy water to tread through.

The coldness of the water obstacles throws most people off, but thanks to my annual visits to the Fairhaven Polar Bear Plunge, I was ready. Even so, The Glacier and Funky Monkey had me challenged.  Three rungs away from completing the Funky Monkey I slipped and was once again swallowed up by water with floating ice chunks in it.  We did, however, make it through the Electroshock Therapy without getting zapped, which I was very happy about.

The Berlin Walls are a series of four and twelve-foot high walls, which I found to be the absolute hardest obstacle of all.  This is due to the fact that unless you can jump up and grab the top of the 12’ high wall with your feet buried in mud, you simply cannot complete this obstacle without help from other individuals.

The Finish Line

“I think I just lost 2 years of my life.  Let me know if you find it next time you’re at Mount Snow.”

back of glacier new bedford guide
Noah and his brother Aaron, after taking on The Glacier.

Overall the event was a total success. We had an absolute blast. If you want to keep time, you must do it on your own, so unofficially Aaron and I finished the event with  a time of three hours and 20 minutes.  I know it’s not a race, but what can I say? I’m competitive: We passed a lot more people than people who passed us.

We received our Tough Mudder T-shirts, headbands, and free Dos Equis (the event’s sponsor) beer. Yeah, it does seems like not a lot for what you put yourself through, but it was well worth it and I will absolutely be attending next year’s Tough Mudder Competition.

For all the MTV fans out there who can’t get enough of their Real World/Road Rule Gauntlet challenges, you best stay at home, you won’t survive this.

Rose Alley Ale House

Noah
by Noah Griffith

Hear me RAAH!!!! Yes, it’s been known to happen, especially when its beer time, and especially when I’m at Rose Alley Ale House.  Home to over 70 delicious brews, a variety of different spirits, and a tiny kitchen that pumps out some serious pub grub, this great little establishment is making a BIG impact on New Bedford. I had the fortunate opportunity to speak with Jay Lanagan, one of the owners of Rose Alley Ale House (RAAH), to find out the things you and I don’t know about RAAH.

So Jay, how long has RAAH been open for?
A few years now.

How many owners does Rose Alley have?  How did you all meet?
There are five owners total, and some of us have known each other since kindergarten and others since high school.

rose alley ale house new bedford guideThat’s longer than I imagined.  You guys must have lots of fun working together. What was the idea behind opening up RAAH?
The basic idea was to get in on what we thought was the ground floor by opening a business in downtown New Bedford that complimented the other businesses around it.  The main goal is always to do the best job we can.

Well it seems like you are doing that so far.  What did you hope to bring to downtown New Bedford when you started putting RAAH into motion?
We wanted to have another venue for residents and tourist alike to enjoy when they spend their time in New Bedford.

rose alley renovations new bedford guide
Rose Alley Ale House during renovations.

The building in which RAAH is located was previously called the Cultivator Club, and looked much different than it does now.  What was the process like for transforming the building into what we see today?
We did a lot of work.  Looking back, we were probably in over our heads, but we stayed committed and focused and fought to get the doors open.

Back to the kitchen.  What kind of food does RAAH have?
We have wings, burgers, salads, wraps, fries, entrees, and every so often we have a GOURMET BEER DINNER.

Yes, that’s right.  You just had a Mayflower Beer Pairing Dinner. What’s your best selling food item?
Buffalo wings, and our burgers.  You have GOT to try one of our burgers.

What kind of regular specials does RAAH have?
We have a great chicken wing specials during football season.  We also have all-you-can-eat boneless chicken for $5.99.

Has the change in the economy had any effect in RAAH’s business?
Of course we all share the discouragement of the recession, but we have learned from it and we are all having fun working through it.

beers rose alley new bedford guide
Some of the beers on tap at Rose Alley Ale House.

How many Beers does RAAH offer on draft and bottle?
All-in-all we have 38 beers on tap and I don’t even think I can start to count the number of beers we have in bottles: I think there’s usually between 36-40, but we are always changing it up and adding new beers to the list.

What is the Mug Club?
The Mug Club only happens once a year during the month of February.  An individual has to drink 28 beers a specific list (made by Rose Alley) in the 28 days that make up February.   So one beer a day and you’re good.

What is the fastest time that someone has finished the list in?
That would have been this year and it was too fast: We are getting ready for next year to make a institute a, ‘maximum beers allowed in one day’ rule.  It’s really for the safety of the individual.  The beers that we carry here classified as micro brews (smaller breweries) and have more alcohol than your average Bud or Miller Lite, sometimes even double the percentage, so we don’t want anyone overdoing it.

What are the benefits of being part of the Mug Club?
Personalized RAAH gear, a hand-blown 25 ounce glass mug, made by local artisans at the New Bedford Antique Glass Museum near the Wamsutta Mills.  Everyone who finishes all 28 beers gets their own glass.  The glass stays at Rose Alley and they can use when they come in for a drink.  This lasts for the entire year until the next Beer Summit, where they can then take home their old mug and sign up to get a new one.  And yes, if someone wants a new mug they must drink a whole 28 more beers in 28 days.

new bedford guide rose alleyWas this year any different than last year?
Yes.  We doubled the success rate for those participating, so congratulations to everyone who finished.

Do you have any big events coming up this spring?
There’s a lot going on in the city this summer and we are going to be part of most of it, if not all of it.

Okay, last question… What’s going on in Plymouth?  There is a buzz around town that you may have another project going on there.
We’ve been exploring the idea of a Plymouth restaurant, but we need to make sure it is the right fit of the people in the building, the people in the neighborhood, and for us.  It is a lot of responsibility.

Alright Jay, thanks for taking the time to sit down with me.  I’ll let you get back to work.

The Rose Alley Ale House is located at 94 Front Street New Bedford,on the corner of Rose Alley and Front Street in historic downtown New Bedford. It is open seven days a Week, from 11:30am to 2:00am.  Their phone number is (508) 858-5123, and you can also find them on Facebook.

Tom Lanigan: Irish Music from an Irishman

Noah
by Noah Griffith

Since last month, Hibernia Irish Pub has been hosting Irish sessions every Sunday, from 4-7:30 PM.  These events provide a great opportunity for people to enjoy traditional Irish music performed by a true Irishman, but some of you may be wondering just what an Irish session is.

According to the Field Guide to Irish Music Sessions: An Authoritative Guide to Enjoying Irish Traditional Music in its Natural Habitat, an  Irish session is:

“…a gathering of Irish traditional musicians for the purpose of celebrating their common interest in the music by playing it together in a relaxed, informal setting, while in the process generally beefing up the mystical cultural mantra that hums along uninterruptedly beneath all manifestations of Irishness worldwide.”

Tom Lanigan hosts these Irish sessions at Hibernia.  He was born in Dublin, where he lived until he moved to the United States with his family seventeen years ago.  He sings and plays guitar in the Tom Lanigan Band, with whom he has already released an album,  As The Light Declines.  The band is also in the middle of recording a second album, with a limited release EP on the way as well.  Just last week I had the chance to speak to Tom about his brand of traditional Irish music:

tom lanigan performing new bedford guide
Tom Lanigan on stage.

Well good day to you, Mr. Tom Lanigan.  Please tell me who you are and what are doing here in New Bedford?
I’m an Irish singer/songwriter playing one of my first shows ever in New Bedford, at The Hibernia Pub.

Nice.  I love Irish music. I heard a little bit of your music a couple weeks ago and you sounded really good. I also like the idea of an actual Irishman playing Irish music. Where do you normally perform?
I perform all over. This is my 11th year as a full-time musician, and I just go where the work takes me. My usual route has me going through Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Do you perform much in the South Coast area?
Besides Hibernia Irish Pub, I play Cape Cod quite regularly at the O’Shea’s Olde Inne and The Sons Of Erin. I love the Cape because of how many great musicians and great people there are: It’s a real education.

How long have you been performing Irish sessions?
Most Irish musicians get involved with sessions in one way or another, but I don’t play them very well. My band’s style is a bit different,  more along the folk/rock Irish style.  Thankfully, we’ve been able to play it in one form or another for the past eleven years.

tom lanigan cd new bedford guide

That’s why the music I heard at Hibernia was a little different from what I normally would expect to hear at a traditional session.  You are putting a more modern spin on a classic pastime. How did the band come together?
Music has always been a part of my life, and through the years I have played with many great musicians. This current lineup has come together very organically, and it’s been going great.  We can accommodate anything from a solo show to a six-piece band.

Is this the first time for many of your members being in a band?
This is definitely not the first band for these players, and I feel blessed to have access to their talent. Here is the lineup:

Tom Lanigan-Vocals, Guitar and Djembe,
Brian Bercher– Bass Guitar
Jordan Tirrell Wysoki– Fiddle and Mandolin
Sue YoungBodhran, Vocals and Whistles
John Eagan– Guitar,Vocals, and Harmonica
Chris Leary– Piano and Organ

Do you guys have jobs outside of the band?
Some of us have jobs on the side, but the goal is for the music to be full-time. I want to be able to have the whole band out playing full-time, and we’re on our way there.

Good for you guys. Well, for all the ladies out there: Are you single?
I am not single, but I’m a musician, so God knows how long she’ll put up with me.

Haha. Yeah, I imagine it can get tricky sometimes. Have you ever gone on tour?
I have toured Europe and the United States.  I feel like I have been very fortunate to have done so.

Tom Lanigan

Do you have any big shows or events coming up?
We just opened for Derek Warfield & the Young Wolf Tones for the second year in a row, at RiRa in Portsmouth, NH.  We are looking forward to the Canton Irish Music Festival and The Dorchester Irish Music Festival this summer.  We love the festivals and can’t wait to get back out there.  There will be more to come, but that’s what we have confirmed for now.

Is there anything else you’d like to add in here?
In closing, I’d like to say that this music, and the tradition involved, is my calling. It is a hard road to travel, but I am in this for the long haul.

For those wanting to learn more about Tom Lanigan, or check out where he will be playing next, visit his website: www.tomlanigan.com .  There are videos there so you can check out samples of his music.  The band is available for shows, with contact info through the website. Also, don’t forget to check them out on Facebook to get access to all their latest information.

Spotlight on FINS

Noah
by Noah Griffith

Did someone say FREE PIZZA? Where!?”
“At FINS!”
“When did they get food?”

That’s usually how the conversation begins when I bring up FINS Bar & Nightclub, located at 37 Union Street in downtown New Bedford. FINS does have a kitchen, and has had one since its been open. However, recently some major changes have been made.

Last year, during the week between December 25th and December 31 st, FINS closed its doors in order to make some major alterations to the interior. The carpet is gone, the walls have been painted, the ceilings look brand new, and there is even a pool table now, which has created a totally different vibe inside.  In my opinion, that is something that was really needed.

About two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with the owner, Dennis Audette, to find out why he decided to go with a new look, and how things have been going since the New Year brought us a new Fins.

fins interior new bedford guideSo Dennis, first question:  What is your social security and DOB?… Haha just kidding. How long has FINS been open?
FINS has been open for five years now.

What is the meaning behind the name?
I was painting the walls blue and thought to myself, the place looks like a fish tank, so ‘FINS’ was launched.

Well that’s as good a reason as any, and it works considering New Bedford’s history.  Why did you decide to get into the bar business?
Downtown New Bedford had been changing over the last decade, and I saw an opportunity to create a fun place for people to socialize.

Yeah, you couldn’t get a better location. Right on the waterfront and now you’re surrounded by other venues, with each drawing its own particular crowd. It makes for some serious foot traffic around here.  What did you do before opening FINS?
I’ve always been self employed.

fins bar new bedford guideWhy did you decide to renovate, and how would you describe the Fins face-lift?
Late last year, my staff, some very good friends and I worked on the renovations.  It was time to lighten and brighten the place to give FINS a fresh new look and vibe.  We wanted to be more welcoming, with a tropical, brighter, more updated feel.

Well you have certainly done that, everything looks great. As I mentioned earlier, your just one of many other bars and nightclubs at this end of Union street.  What sets FINS apart from the rest?
We are the only tropical-themed bar downtown, and the only place on lower Union Street that you can play pool.  Our music is now geared towards Top 40, ’80s, ’90s, and old school dance music, so you will always hear something that you will know and remember.  We are also offering our place for private functions, such as birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and almost any other function you can think of.

I have had your food before the renovations and it was delicious. What kind of food are you selling now? Pizza.  Not only pizza, but the best thin crust pizza you can get downtown.

Do you have any food specials?
Friday & Saturday nights we offer free pizza on the bar starting at midnight, and on Sundays, cheese pizzas are only $1.00.

What kind of regular specials do you have each week?
We have a special shot of the week, and we give out sweets for all the ladies. For example: brownies topped with whipped cream, gourmet chocolates…things like that.

That is something you usually only see around Valentines & Mother’s Day, and you do it all the time. What big events do you have coming up?
Nothing in particular, just getting ready for another fantastic summer in downtown New Bedford.

Is there anything you would like everyone to know?
We would like all of our old and new friends to come see all the changes, and feel the new vibe at Fins.  If you haven’t been to our place in a while, you need to come in and check us out!!

Hear that everyone! Get your butt down to FINS and check out the interior (there’s a new outside coming soon too!). Also check out FINS Discount Coupon on New Bedford Guide’s Southcoast Discount Coupon Page, good for a FREE PIZZA with ANY purchase!!!
