Massachusetts State Police arrest suspect in road rage stabbing

“Massachusetts State Troopers this afternoon located and apprehended the suspect wanted for stabbing another man during a road rage incident in West Roxbury last Saturday.

An MSP investigation in the hours and days after the stabbing identity the assailant as DREW D. LAMB, 27, of Medford.

The State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section began assisting detectives from State Police Troop H and the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County in tracking down LAMB.

This afternoon, MSP VFAS located the Cadillac LAMB was driving at the time of the incident. A Trooper observed the car parked outside the Porter Street, Salem residence of a known associate of LAMB’s. VFAS Troopers, along with State Police and Salem Police detectives, converged on the location and took LAMB into custody without incident. Troopers transported LAMB to the State Police-Danvers Barracks, where he was booked on the warrant. The Cadillac was towed to a State Police facility for processing.

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 7, Troopers from the State Police-Milton Barracks, along with BPD officers, responded to the road rage incident on the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury. Upon arrival, they located a 42-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The man was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury. MSP Detectives responded to the scene; the ensuing investigation resulted in the identification of LAMB as the perpetrator.

Their investigation determined that the victim and a family member were driving in a Toyota Tacoma pickup on the VFW Parkway on Saturday afternoon. Simultaneously, LAMB was driving a black 2010 Cadillac CTS on the Parkway. The operators began passing and exchanging words with each other. Prior to the Centre Street intersection, both vehicles pulled over. Evidence indicates that LAMB exited his vehicle with a knife and approached the Tacoma. The victim then exited his pickup and the two began fighting. During the fight LAMB stabbed the victim in the chest, according to the evidence. LAMB then re-entered the Cadillac and fled the scene.

LAMB will be held overnight and will be arraigned tomorrow in the West Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court.”-Massachusetts State Police.

Massachusetts State Police assist in capture of man wanted for murder

“A joint operation by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Revere Police, and the Massachusetts Parole Board Warrant Unit last week captured a man wanted for the July 31 murder of a man doing volunteer work in Raleigh, North Carolina.

On the morning of Friday, Aug. 6, the investigative team developed intelligence that MARCUS WALTON, 29, was hiding out in a fifth floor apartment at 770 Washington Ave., Revere. Troopers, Officers, and Marshals converged on the apartment Friday morning, knocked on the door, and announced their presence.

With police at the door, WALTON tried to jump from the fifth-story window. Team members maintaining the perimeter on the ground outside the building talked WALTON — who was outside the window, sitting on the sill and prepared to jump — into remaining in the apartment and surrendering. Within moments other members of the warrant team were through the door and placed WALTON into custody from inside the apartment.

WALTON was booked at the State Police-Revere Barracks as a fugitive from justice and then arraigned at Chelsea District Court. Authorities in North Carolina and Massachusetts will arrange his rendition to answer to the felony murder charge in Wake County, N.C.

WALTON is charged in the Saturday, July 31 shooting death of 31-year-old Charlie Debnam, a drum major in a Raleigh band and beloved community member who was packing food donations at the Helping Hand Mission in that city when he was killed.”-Massachusetts State Police.

Massachusetts State Police: “A day for smiling!”

“A DAY FOR SMILING:

We respond to so many serious incidents across the state on every shift, that sometimes smiles are hard to come by. But on some days, when we get a chance to work at events where we can interact with the public, our pleasure at doing so shines through.

Yesterday was a day like that. Trooper Kevin Flynn made two new friends while assigned to the International Sandcastle Festival at Revere Beach, while Trooper Paul Dabene was more than happy to work crowd control at the New England Revolution match at Gillette (won by the Revs 2-1 over the Philadelphia Union).

The serious work never stops, but it’s always a good day when we can get meet the people we serve under happier circumstances.”-Massachusetts State Police.

New Bedford Child Molestation Defendant Sentenced to Prison

A 62-year-old former New Bedford man who indecently assaulted his former girlfriend’s pre-teen relative on multiple occasions was sentenced last week to serve eight to 10 years in state prison, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

Wayne Vincent pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court on August 4th to indictments charging him with three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.

From 2007 through 2015, the pre-teen victim was living with her relative and the defendant in New Bedford. During that time, the defendant made the victim perform oral sex on him on at least two occasions, indecently touched her breasts and vagina, and forced her to kiss him.

The abuse was not reported until 2018 when the defendant, who was now living in Worcester, contacted her via social media. The renewed contact upset the victim, at which point she disclosed the abuses to her mother, and later, to a forensic investigator.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney MaryClare Flynn and the state prison term was imposed by Judge Karen Green. In addition to the decade in prison, the defendant was also placed on five years of additional probation, which will commence upon his release from prison.

“The defendants repeated sexual assaults on the victim are very disturbing and a breach of trust. I am pleased that he was held accountable and commend the victim for coming forward,” District Attorney Quinn said.

Lakeville Police team up with the Massachusetts State and Environmental Police for maritime training

“Over the last two weeks, officers in our Boating Enforcement Unit joined the Massachusetts Environmental Police and Massachusetts State Police for advanced maritime training courses, including Boat Crew Member (BCM) and Boat Operator Search and Rescue (BOSAR).

The BCM and BOSAR courses are component training sessions created by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) to establish a national standard of training, qualification, credentialing, and typing emergency responders throughout the maritime domain.

These sessions provided our officers extensive training in rescue operations and provided the skills necessary to execute missions safely and enhance emergency response capabilities. The U.S. Coast Guard accepts these courses as the national standard of training and certification.

This training will prove invaluable, should the skills be required on the 6.6 square miles of water in our community.”-Lakeville Police Department.
