Two Men Arrested for Illegally Possessing Firearm in New Bedford

Early this morning, at approximately 2:49 a.m., Trooper Joseph Kubicek, who is assigned to the State Police – Dartmouth Barracks, was on patrol of I-195 Eastbound in the city of New Bedford, when he stopped a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire for a motor vehicle violation.

The vehicle was occupied by four occupants. After a brief investigation, the two rear passengers, who initially gave false identification, were identified as TYLER R. PINA, 23, of Taunton, and RAYMOND A. CLARK, 35, of New Bedford, were found to be in possession of a MAC 10 Semi-Auto .45 caliber firearm. Neither PINA or CLARK are licensed to carry firearms. In addition to the firearm, CLARK was also found to have three outstanding arrest warrants.

Both men were placed into custody and transported to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking, and later transported to the Bristol County House of Correction, pending their arraignment in New Bedford District Court.

PINA was charged with the following:

1. Possession/carrying a firearm;
2. Possession/carrying a firearm inside vehicle;
3. Firearm in felony, possession large capacity;
4. Possession of a firearm without FID card;
5. Firearm, store improperly large capacity; and
6. Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device.

CLARK was charged with the following:

1. Possession/carrying a firearm;
2. Firearm in felony, possess;
3. Possession of firearm without FID card;
4. Firearm, store improperly;
5. Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device; and
6. Possession/carrying a firearm inside vehicle.
