Man Arrested for OUI has over 40 Opened Nip Bottles in Freetown

Last evening at approximately 5:30 p.m., Trooper Kyle Duarte of the Dartmouth Barracks stopped a Dodge pickup truck on Route 24 for motor vehicle violations. The operator was identified as James Woodward, 26, of Assonet.

As a result of an investigation, Woodward was found to be impaired by alcohol consumption. Woodward was found to be in possession of several open and unopened bottles of liquor, including 42 opened “nip” bottles of vodka.

Woodward was placed under arrest and brought to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking.

Woodward was charged with the following:

  • Operating under the influence of liquor
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle
  • Marked lanes violation

Woodward was scheduled to be arraigned in Fall River District Court this morning.
