64-year old New Bedford man charged with trafficking cocaine and fentanyl

On Feb. 3, New Bedford police officers seized approximately 48 grams of cocaine, hundreds of counterfeit Percocet pills containing fentanyl weighing approximately 135 grams, five bullets, and $1,420 at 353 Park St.

64-year old Gregory Lima of 353 Park Street was the target of a search warrant that led to this seizure. He was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine and trafficking in fentanyl. Counterfeit pills disguised to appear as pharmaceutical grade pain killers are often pressed with fentanyl and sold illicitly. This yields a higher street price but can lead to a user believing that what they are using is professionally manufactured.

Detective Tim Soares investigated the case.
