55-year-old New Bedford woman dies in single-vehicle crash in Bourne

Today at about 2:30 p.m., State Police from the Bourne Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 25 West at Exit 3 in Bourne which resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Jonathan O’Loughlin indicates that a 2004 Pontiac Aztek was traveling onto Route 25 westbound from exit 3 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went off the right side of the road striking a snow bank and rolling onto the roof. Good Samaritans stopped and began to administer CPR to the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver, a 55-year-old woman from New Bedford was transported by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Bourne Fire, and Mass DOT.

There is no additional information available at this time. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
