35-year old New Bedford man arrested for robbing Gas Express with knife

On Saturday, May 3, 2019, New Bedford Police Detectives Jason Gangi and Brian Rei were on patrol near Covell Street and Belleville Avenue, when they overheard a broadcast from The New Bedford Police Department’s Communication Division that an armed robbery had just occurred at Gas Express, located at 52 Tarkiln Hill Road.

Detectives Gangi and Rei proceeded toward Gas Express, while the Communications Division continued to update responding units of the suspect’s description. A male matching the description provided was observed in the area and encountered by the Detectives. A further investigation conducted by the Detectives identified the male as committing the armed robbery while armed with a knife.

Michele D. Hannon, 35, of 92 Maryland Street, New Bedford was placed under arrest and charged with armed robbery while being masked. Hannon is due to be arraigned at Third District Court in New Bedford on Monday, May 6, 2019.
