“A 33-year-old Bridgewater man will serve four to five-and-a-half years in state prison after being convicted last week of a Taunton stabbing and for violating the terms of his probation connected to a Plymouth County domestic assault, District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

Ryan O’Day pled guilty in Fall River Superior Court last Friday to indictments charging him with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Armed Carjacking.

On July 7, 2019, the defendant was outside a Sunoco gas station in Taunton when he approached the victim and engaged in a fight over a girl. Video surveillance showed the defendant reaching into the victim’s car and dragging him from it. During this altercation, the victim was stabbed multiple times. The defendant then jumped into the victim’s car and drove off. The defendant left the car up the street, but later returned when the police were there to explain his side of the story. His story did not match up with the video surveillance.

At the time of this incident, the defendant was on probation out of Brockton District Court after being convicted for Domestic Assault and Battery, and Strangulation. He was sentenced to three to four years in prison for the Taunton case, and an additional 18 months for violating his probation.

The victim, who was not seriously injured, has since moved to another region of the country.

The case was prosecuted by Co-Forst Assistant District Attorney Karen O’Sullivan and the sentence was imposed by Judge Renee Dupuis.

“I’m glad he was held accountable for this senseless act of violence committed against the victim,” District Attorney Quinn said.”
