24-year-old New Bedford man stabbed in back after altercation in Mashpee


“Mashpee police are seeking information about an early morning stabbing that happened at Attaquin Park, according to a news release.

Just after 2 a.m. Saturday, Mashpee police were notified that a man with a suspected stab wound to the back was brought to Falmouth Hospital as a passenger in a private car. Mashpee and Falmouth police officers were able to locate the victim on Route 28 around the Mashpee/Falmouth town line, where the driver was instructed to pull over to wait for an ambulance.

After rendering first aid, police determined the 24-year-old New Bedford man had been stabbed in Attaquin Park in Mashpee during an altercation, according to the news release.

He was taken to Falmouth Hospital by the Mashpee Fire/Rescue Department with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

“The crime scene was eventually secured and an open and active investigation was initiated and is now underway,” the press release said.

Mashpee police were assisted at the scene by the Falmouth Police Department and the Barnstable County Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Mashpee Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-539-1480.”-Mashpee Police Department.
