A warm weekend is in store for us this weekend with temperatures hovering around 80 degrees all weekend long. In general it will be humid as is the norm for this time of year. However, clouds will characterize the entire weekend with a thunderstorm popping up on Saturday. Certainly nothing to slow us down from enjoying ourselves!

Krazy Days (10:00am-5:00pm)
Outdoor festival offers free entertainment for all ages! Located in the heart of Cranberry Country, just north of Cape Cod, Krazy Days is an annual street fair in the historic downtown business district of Middleborough. The festival features vendor booths showcasing arts, crafts, and food. Cultural events include hourly live entertainment by local talent. Newport Jazz Festival 2017 (11:00am-7:00pm)
Founded in 1954, the Newport Jazz Festival® was the first jazz festival in America, and has been host to numerous legendary performances by iconic figures and contemporary geniuses. The event is a production of Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc. and is held annually over the course of three days at two of Newport’s historic landmarks: the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino and Fort Adams State Park. Feast of the Blessed Sacrament (12:00pm-11:45pm)
The New Bedford Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, a.k.a. the Portuguese Feast, a.k.a. Madeira Feast is the largest event New Bedford has every year. More than that, it is the largest Portuguese feast in the world and the largest ethnic festival in New England. The feast was founded in 1915 by four Madeiran immigrants who wanted to recreate the festivities of their home island. Visit A Museum On The Cape Cod Museum Trail (All Day)
One of the great challenges of summer — especially for parents — is figuring out what to do to keep the family happy and entertained. Visiting a museum is a great way to fill up those weekend hours. There are dozens of museums in the Cape Cod area, offering experiences to interest virtually anyone. Get Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs – Kids Fishing Derby (7:00am-10:00am)
The Dartmouth Knights of Columbus will host its annual fishing derby. The three-hour competition — titled “Get Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs” — is open to kids ages six through 16. Bait will be provided. The rain date will be Saturday, August 12. The event will be held at Mello’s Pond, located one mile west of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Old Westport Road. The entrance is on the left. Proceed slowly down the dirt lane to the very end.

Rise And Shine Yoga At Fort Phoenix (8:30am-9:30am)
Join South Coast Yoga every Saturday morning at Fort Phoenix to start your weekend with an energizing yoga practice! Class is only a $5 drop in, or you can purchase a class card (info below). Class incorporates movement, meditation, balance and strength. This is open to all levels, newbies to advanced. Please bring a mat/towel and water. The beginning of the season can be chilly, so layers are good! Children are welcome, as long as they can sit quietly for the hour (10 and up usually). Class passes are $25 for 5 classes and can be used at Fort Taber and Fort Phoenix classes all summer.

Acushnet Farmers Market (9:00am-1:00pm)
Join us as we kick off the season. Great lineup of vendors including many of your favorites from last year. Blacksmith Demonstration (10:00am-2:00pm)
During the time of whaling, people purchased products that were hand-made, one at a time, not mass produced. Join New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park on Saturdays during the summer for its Maritime Crafts series. Each week, artisans demonstrate 19th century crafts and chat with visitors about them. New Bedford Antiques Center at Wamsutta Place (11:00am-6:00pm)
Antiques, collectibles, and history all in one place! The Center is home to over 200 dealers and consigners featuring antiques and collectibles from early Americana to Mid-Century to today’s treasures. Car Show @ GNBVT (10:00am-3:00pm)
This car show will be open to ALL makes and models: imports, classics, muscle,trucks, bikes, etc. Parking spots ARE limited so it will be first come first serve but should have plenty of room. This is going to be a family filled event for all ages. We will have a DJ, vendors. and giveaways. This show will be $10 per car who wants to enter into the parking lot and spectators who want to come in and look will be free. Parking for spectators will be on Ashley Blvd. All proceeds will be going back to Voc for scholarships!

Feast of the Blessed Sacrament Annual Parade (2:00pm-4:00pm)
The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament will host it’s annual parade. The parade will start at 2:00 p.m. with over forty different organizations marching the one mile route from Brooklawn Park to the Feast grounds at Madeira Field. In the past we’ve had brass bands, fife & drum bands, bagpipers, popular singing groups, pirates, clowns, jugglers, militias, beauty queens, delightful floats, classic cars and lots of fun and surprises for everyone. Parade Route: The parade begins at Brooklawn Park and proceeds south on Acushnet Avenue to Earle Street, turns east onto Earle Street and continues to the Immaculate Conception Church. It then turns north onto Madeira Avenue and proceeds to Madeira Field where it enters the Feast grounds and past the reviewing stand at Stage 1. New Bedford native Steve Pemberton brings his extraordinary life journey back home, with a free showing of the movie based on his best-selling book, “A Chance in the World.” The story chronicles Steve’s life in the New Bedford the foster system, and how he overcame the odds to become Senior Executive at Walgreens, a best selling author and child advocate.

Meet Steve Pemberton and his former guardian John Sykes at a post-show Question & Answer session. This is a free event sponsored by Walgreens and presented by Mayor Jon Mitchell, City of New Bedford, Film New Bedford, Office of Tourism and Marketing.
