19-year old man out on bail arrested in stolen BMW

A 19-year-old man out on bail for carrying a loaded firearm in January was arrested again Friday evening after being found in a stolen 2006 BMW. Police arrested Rayshond Lewis, 19, of New Bedford for possession of a stolen motor vehicle on Water Street at 7PM. A second male, Emmanuel Barros, 23, of New Bedford was also arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Lewis who is well known by members of the gang unit was out on bail on charges of unlawful carrying of a firearm, and unlawful carrying of a firearm second offense. His first offense was from October 2013 in which he was found with a Browning .380 handgun and most recent was in January of this year when he was found with a loaded .25 cal Raven Arms pistol. A dangerousness hearing was held at Superior Court. On March 28th, Judge McGuire set bail on Lewis for $5,000.00. Lewis made bail on April 12th and was arrested 2 days later.
