19-year old Boston man arrested in stolen car in Middleboro

On Friday, January 6, 2017 at approximately 1:45 am, Wareham PD Sergeant Dan Henderson was traveling on Cranberry Hwy. in the area of Benny’s when he noticed a vehicle traveling toward him at a high rate of speed. When Sgt. Henderson turned around and attempted to top the vehicle, the operator turned off the headlights and accelerated in an attempt to avoid being stopped.

The vehicle, a 2016 Mazda sedan, continued at a high rate of speed westbound on Cranberry Hwy. (Rte. 6&28) to Rte. 28 and the Rte. 195 overpass, traveling on the opposite side of the roadway. For safety reasons, WPD discontinued the pursuit and notified Rochester and Middleboro Police Departments that the vehicle was headed toward the respective towns.

A short time later, Middleboro PD reported the vehicle, which had been conformed as stolen from Boston, MA had been stopped on West Grove Street. Wareham PD officers responded to the scene, where 19-year old Rushawn Davis of Boston, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was placed under arrest for the following charges:

  • Receiving Stolen Property – Motor Vehicle
  • Operating to Endanger
  • Failure to Stop for Police
  • Failure Stop For Red Light
  • Operating Without Headlights
  • Speeding
  • Improper Passing
  • Marked Lanes Violations

Rushawn Davis was held at the Wareham Police Department and will be arraigned on the criminal charges today at Wareham District Court.
