19-year old arrested for two November armed robberies in New Bedford

On Saturday, the 26th of November at approximately 4:30 pm, police arrested the suspect in two armed robberies that occurred in the south end of New Bedford. The robberies were at Ro-Art Liquors on 11/18/16 and Cidades Sunoco on 11/22/16.

Officers J. Alexandre and M. Rodrigues assigned to the south end police station spotted suspect while on routine patrol. Suspect fled into a 799 So. First Street apartment where he was eventually placed under arrest. The suspect was identified as Elijah Sanford, 19 years old of New Bedford.

Once arrested, Detective Paul Fonseca secured a search warrant for that apartment and located the Khaki colored jacket that Sanford wore on both robberies as well as a black BB gun which replicated a semi-automatic hand gun that was also used in both robberies.

Sanford is being charged with 2 counts of Armed Robbery.
