Friday, July 27th

St. Michael Futebol Club Festa (ALL DAY)
As we prepare for our 14th Annual Festa do Chicharro feast on July 27th and 28th, we would like to invite all of our St. Michael family and friends to Saint Michael Social Club for a memorable time with great food and entertainment. Live entertainment with band Edge on Friday and ERATOXICA on Saturday. We will also be serving our famous “cabra” plate (goat) on Saturday. All proceeds go toward helping our players attend college and play soccer for St. Michael Futebol Club. We hope you can make it! St. Michael Futebol Club, 101 Madeira Avenue, New Bedford.

Multicultural Folk Music by Davis Bates & Roger Tincknell (3:30pm-4:30pm)
From Native and African Americans to European and Southeast Asian immigrants, Across the Americas is an exciting multicultural folk music journey from Canada to Chile. The program explores our rich and diverse heritage through songs in many languages performed on a variety of stringed, wind and percussion instruments. Vacation Summer Camp (Rochester) (5:30pm-8:30pm)
Children from preschool through grade 6 are invited to join us on a deserted island as we learn about Jesus’ amazing love. He rescues us! Dinner will be served at 5:30 and our program begins at 6:00. Parents are encouraged to register for our adult class that meets from 6:30-7:30. First Congregational Church, 11 Constitution Way, Rochester.

City of New Bedford Summer Sound Series: Jah Spirit (African-Reggae, Calypso Jazz, Blues, Rock) (6:00pm-8:00pm)
The Summer Sound Series will feature live musical entertainment on Pier 3 in Downtown New Bedford’s Seaport Cultural District. Residents and visitors will dance to live music, enjoy beverages available for purchase, and relax along New Bedford’s beautiful working waterfront. Free parking and shuttle service to City Pier 3 is available at Whale’s Tooth Parking Lot. Additional parking is available at Elm Street Garage within walking distance of City Pier 3. The public is invited to bring their chairs and enjoy front row seating to performances.

Downton Taunton Foundation Summer Music Series: October Road: A Tribute to James Taylor (6:30pm-9:00pm)
Celebrating the music of an American treasure, October Road focuses on recreating the live arrangements of James Taylor and his All Star Band. Love James, Taylor? This band will totally light up a summer night for you as you relax with family and friends on the Taunton Green and feel like you are hearing the real thing! New Bedford Festival Theater presents “West Side Story” (7:00pm)
This classic American musical adapts the story of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and places it in the alleys and tenements of 1950’s New York City. West Side Story follows beautiful Maria, newly arrived from Puerto Rico, as she falls for a young Caucasian man. Unfortunately, Maria’s brother heads the Puerto Rican street gang, while Maria’s beloved founded the rival white gang. Can true love between a boy and a girl from warring camps find room to flourish amidst racial tension? That is the age-old question explored in West Side Story, one of the best-loved musicals of the American stage. Zeiterion Theater, 684 Purchase St. New Bedford.

Birding: Shaw Farm Trail (Fairhaven) (8:00am-10:00am)
Take a morning walk with the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the New Bedford Art Museum, and experienced local birder Nate Marchessault to look and listen for songbirds, shorebirds, and raptors at Nasketucket Bay State Reservation in Mattapoisett. The walk will follow Shaw Farm Trail through the woods to the beach overlooking Nasketucket Bay. Shaw Farm Trail, 97 Shaw Road, Fairhaven.

Cultural Survival Bazaar (Tiverton) (10:00am-6:00pm)
This free admission, family-friendly festival features art, crafts and other ethically made cultural products created by Indigenous artists from dozens of countries. Enjoy demonstrations by artists, Indigenous cuisine, and live music from around the world. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to exchange, connect, and build community. Southeast Asian Cultural Festival (10:00am)
The festival will showcase customs, heritage, arts, cultures, and cuisines to promote peace and harmony among people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Grab your binoculars and join our birding experts out on the trails. In the serene natural landscape at NBS, you will count up as many bird species as you can while also keeping an eye out for non-flying wildlife. All birding levels welcome. Legendary Street Rods Car, Truck & Bike Show and Fun Fair (Fairhaven) (9:00am-3:00pm)
The Legendary Street Rods Car Club teams up with the North Fairhaven Improvement Association to present a summertime Car, Truck, and Bike Show and Family Fun Fair at Livesey Park in North Fairhaven. There will be raffles, awards, music, children’s activities, food and more. Fee to enter a vehicle in the show is $15. Admission to the event is free. Proceeds from the Car Show benefit the New Bedford Veterans Transition House & Cancer Fund. Proceeds from food sales benefit the NFIA and Fairhaven Lions Club.
