Laura Cortese and the Dance Cards (7:30pm-9:00pm)
Indie Folk band Laura Cortese and the Dance Cards bring their genre-bending music to the Music in the Gallery concert series on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 7:30 PM in the beautiful James Arnold Mansion, owned by the Wamsutta Club, 427 County Street (at the corner of Union Street), New Bedford, MA. Music in the Gallery is presented by the Music Directors of the New Bedford Folk Festival. Music in the Gallery concerts is open to the general public. Saturday, April 14th

Osprey Nest Checks – A Field Experience (10:00am-2:00pm)
Join us for an important day in the field – and help check osprey nests for occupancy and incubating birds in both branches of the Westport River! We’ll meet at the Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary field station, then depart in our own vehicles with one team working from roadside viewing points along the East Branch of the Westport River and the other team doing the same on the West Branch. Sanctuary Staff will lead each team and provide insight into the lives of the osprey. Families are welcome to take part in this great learning experience. Suggested for kids ages 8 and up. Participants must pre-register for proper planning. $10/participant Mass Audubon members and $12/participant non-members. Mass Audubon Allens Pond, 1280 Horseneck Rd., Westport.

Doo Wop and the Sounds of the City at the Z (7:30pm)
From New York, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia comes the gritty soul, classic harmonies and good time rock ’n’ roll hits that helped define a generation.

Todd Baptista, who has hosted and produced Doo Wop concerts for 20 years, returns with his latest show, starring LA LA BROOKS, former lead singer of The Crystals (“Then He Kissed Me,” “Da Doo Ron Ron”), The New Mystics (“Hushabye”) with original members Phil Cracolici and George Galfo, The Orlons (“Wah Watusi,” “South Street”) with original member Stephen Caldwell, and an alumni reunion of The Del Vikings (“Come Go With Me,” “Whispering Bells”) bringing together five of the group’s recording members from the 50s and 60s for the first time in 45 years. Jack Colombo’s Coast To Coast Band joins the legends on stage to take us back to the time when rock was young!
