Characteristically of the weather these past few weekends, things will be warm, humid and periodically wet. Sunday being the only day that doesn’t have rain forecasted at some point. Regardless, there’s certainly nothing that should stop anyone from enjoying all the fun things going on across the SouthCoast!

Newport Folk Festival 2017 (11:00am-7:30pm)

New Bedford Festival Theater presents Lerner & Loewes’ “My Fair Lady” (7:00pm)
Broadway’s most honored musical, My Fair Lady was created by the celebrated musical team of Alan Jay Lerne and Frederick Loewe, directed by the legendary Moss Hart, and starred Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. After a successful run on Broadway, the show and original stars, moved to London where they became the toast of two continents! Several years later Warner Brothers brought My Fair Lady to the screen starring Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn. The film won 10 Oscars including Best Picture! Join Henry Higgins, Colonel Pickering and Eliza Doolittle for this beloved tale of love and transformation. Zeiterion theater.

Downtown Concert: Journey Cover Band “The Great Escape” (Taunton) (7:00pm-9:00pm)
Head to Downtown Taunton to enjoy the music of “The Great Escape”,singing the classic tunes of Journey! The DTF Food Truck will be serving dinner and snacks and the Downtown restaurants will be open before, during, and after the show. A limited number of chairs will be provided. Rise And Shine Yoga At Fort Phoenix (8:30am-9:30am)
Join South Coast Yoga every Saturday morning at Fort Phoenix to start your weekend with an energizing yoga practice! Class is only a $5 drop in, or you can purchase a class card (info below). Class incorporates movement, meditation, balance and strength. This is open to all levels, newbies to advanced. Please bring a mat/towel and water. The beginning of the season can be chilly, so layers are good! Children are welcome, as long as they can sit quietly for the hour (10 and up usually). Class passes are $25 for 5 classes and can be used at Fort Taber and Fort Phoenix classes all summer.

Annual Illumination Night (7:30pm-10:00pm)
An annual favorite for locals and visitors alike, thousands of flares illuminate the beaches of Onset Bay. Live music parade with the Second Line Social Aid Pleasure Society Brass Band, Fire Dancers and more. We are encouraging anyone that lives along Onset Bay to illuminate your residence for the occasion! Strings of lights, lanterns, luminaries, lasers, led’s or anything you think would make this event even better would be appreciated and add to the fun!
