A single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 93 in Andover Saturday resulted in the death of a 16-year old boy.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Bergeron indicates that at about 5:00 p.m., a 16-year-old operator was traveling on Route 93 Northbound, north of Route 495 in Andover in a 2018 Mitsubishi SUV when, for reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the right side of the roadway before rolling over and crashing into a signpost. The operator and sole occupant was initially transported to Lawrence General Hospital before being transferred to Leahy Hospital in Burlington for treatment of serious injuries. He passed away on Sunday.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

State Police were assisted on scene by Andover Fire and EMS. Per department policy, the identity of the juvenile is being withheld.
