16-year old girl killed in rollover crash in Stoneham

At 12:42 a.m. this morning the Stoneham Police Department contacted the State Police Barracks in Medford reporting a single-vehicle crash on Pond Street in Stoneham. The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Explorer, had rolled over. Troopers from the Medford Barracks responded.

The operator of the Explorer, a 16-year-old girl from Stoneham, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Troopers from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and the Middlesex State Police Detective Unit are assisting with the investigation. Also assisting at the scene were the Stoneham Police Department, the Stoneham Fire Department, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The southbound lanes of Pond Street were closed for more than an hour to accommodate the investigation.
