16 Things to do this Weekend (Sept 25 – Sept 27)

A perfectly pleasant weekend is ahead in terms of weather. Autumn has officially arrived and that means we will have much cooler weather. With cool mornings from 46-55 degrees and mild temperatures with a high of 69 degrees, you will be able to wear shirt or pants, t-shirt or sweatshirt. Hit the road, grab something to grill or walk to one of the any events planned along the South Coast.

Buzzard’s Bay Coalition: Family Friday Explorations: Make Your Own Fishing Pole (5:00pm-6:00pm)
Get your whole family exploring the outdoors during Family Friday Explorations offered by the Coalition and Wareham Land Trust. Through fun games and hands-on activities, your family will learn about the Buzzards Bay region’s animals, plants, and habitats. Family Friday Explorations is recommended for families with elementary school-aged children. We encourage you to attend all three programs, but it is not required. Guided Bird Walk (8:00am)
Free. The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust and the Paskamansett Bird Club are co-hosting a free guided bird walk. Participants will discover what migrants may be lingering on this beautiful natural area co-owned by DNRT and The Trustees of Reservations. The walk will be led by William Gil from the Paskamansett Bird Club and Linda Vanderveer from Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust. Westport Farmer’s Market (8:30am-1:00pm)
Prefer locally harvested produce instead of something picked before it’s ripe so it survives its trip? Head to a local Farmer’s Market! Westport Farmer’s Market goes through September. Paper Shredding Day (9:00am-12:00pm)
Paper Shredding Day will take place in the parking lot across from City Hall, on the corner of William Street and North 6th Street, New Bedford, MA. Open to businesses and residents of New Bedford and the surrounding communities. Fee is $5 per box (not more than 40 pounds each). Cash or check only. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove paper from folders and binders. Fee is $5 to destroy a hard drive. Cash or check only. National Drug Take-Back Day will take place at the New Bedford Police Department Headquarters, 871 Rockdale Avenue, New Bedford, MA. National Drug Take-Back Day is open to all.
