Gallery X Presents The Art of Scott Carola (5:00pm-8:00pm)
Scott Carola is a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Over the past several years he has re-ignited his passion for artwork and honed his skills as a pencil artist, working in graphite, colored pencil and pastel. He is a former corrections officer of the old Ash St. Jail, and current Detective Lieutenant of the New Bedford Police Department.

“The Story Thus Far” is a show about just that; a retrospective of the last 5 years with original works he refuses to part with and prints of fan favorites that earned him the following he has today. NBSO presents Let There Be Light at the “Z” (7:30pm)
Described as the “Yo Yo Ma of the harp,” Bridget Kibbey opens the NBSO’s new season with Vivian Fung’s Harp Concerto – a piece that takes the instrument’s capabilities to the extreme, making it sound at times like a zither as well as a bass guitar. The NBSO follows with its full forces, performing Mahler’s monumental Fifth Symphony – a journey that begins with a dark funeral march and ends with a thousand-sun explosion of the joy of being alive. Pre-concert talk: All are invited to the Penler Space at 6:30PM to hear Yaniv Dinur speak about the evening’s program.

Saturday, October 13th

1st Annual Softball Tournament & Family Fun Day (Fairhaven) (8:00am-6:00pm)
SCIL’s First Annual Softball Tournament and Family Fun Day at Cushman Field in Fairhaven, MA. Bring the family down for a day of fun, we will have mini golf, food trucks, live music, face painting, and a huge raffle with great prizes. SCIL is also excited to have partnered with the Pawtucket Red Sox for a meet and greet with the PawSox mascot at the event at 1:00 pm. Open every Saturday at Clasky Common Park from 10-2pm from June-October offering a large variety of local farm fresh fruit & vegetables! Credit, Debit, SNAP, & HIP benefits accepted!

Scanning Day at the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center (10:00am-12:00pm)
We invite the public to bring their fishing related photographs, both historic and contemporary, as well as documents such as settlement sheets, union books, or news clippings to be scanned. NBFHC staff and volunteers will scan your materials and record any information you share about what you bring. You will leave with your originals along with a digital copy on a flash drive. We are working to create a digital archive of these materials which will be made available to researchers and the public. These documents will help us to tell the story of the fishing industry. This event is free and open to the public. New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, 38 Bethel Street, New Bedford.

6th Annual Carl Pacheco Memorial Golf Tournament (Acushnet) (11:00am-1:00pm)
Please join us at Acushnet River Valley Golf Course. Lunch will be provided and dinner is included. Dinner only tickets are also available. “Tower of Power” 50th Anniversary Tour at the “Z” (8:00pm)
For 50 years Tower of Power has delivered the best in rhythm and blues, with a horn-driven, in-your-face sound that’s all its own. Our Lady of Fatima Harvest Fair (8:30am-5:00pm)
Coffee and donuts from Friendly Donuts, malassadas and homemade lunchtime favorites such as cacoila, chow mein sandwiches, hot dogs and beans and more will be served. The fair will feature many talented crafters and vendors, bake sale, jewelry, $100+100 scratch tickets raffle, cash raffles, large Chinese auction, kids game booth and more! Plenty of parking. Free admission. Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Avenue (corner of Tobey St.), New Bedford.

Veterans Annual Food Drive (Fall River) (8:00am-4:00pm)
Our veterans are in great need of food and Fall River Scanner Transmissions is asking the help from our community together to help try and put a stop to our veterans from going hungry. The Veteran’s Association located on 755 Pine St. in Fall River supplies over 300 veterans with 4 bags of food each every month and their food pantry is empty. As a community, we need to come together and put a stop against hunger for those who fought for our country, died for our country and are still fighting for our country. Let’s come togther as one and prove to those who are often forgotten that we haven’t forgot about them. Monday-Thurs: 8-4 and Friday: 8-1. Sat-Sun: will open for drops off but it must be scheduled ahead of time.

“The Rainbow Fish” at the “Z” (2:00pm)
Join The Rainbow Fish on a magical journey! Through innovative puppetry, striking scenic effects, and evocative original music, the new production from Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia brings the silver-scaled, gold-hearted storybook character to life. The performance includes an original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s colorful story as well two of the author’s companion tales, Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Sea and Opposites. It’s an underwater adventure sure to delight young audiences!

Before the show, join us for some Rainbow Fish fun! Kids can create their own Rainbow Fish puppet, then enjoy story time with our Director of Education. Free to all attending the show. From 1 – 1:45PM. All ages welcome.
