11 Things To Do This Weekend (Nov 22-Nov 24)

Don’t rub your eyes to clear them. Yes, in spite of the fact that winter is not officially here yet (that’s December 21) you are looking at a symbol denoting snow on Sunday. Don’t be alarmed, it’s “just” the blizzard of – we mean, just a few snow showers! The weekend will start out with a high of 51 degrees on Friday and just get colder from there. Bundle up on Sunday!

Friday, November 22nd

9th Annual New Bedford Open Studios (5:00 pm-9:00 pm)
The public is invited to the annual Hatch Street Holiday Sale & Open Studios! Visit with favorite artists showing in New Bedford studios for decades while meeting artists new to South Coast art scene. Wander the studio lofts of 88 Hatch Street and see where fine textiles, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, paintings and drawings are made. Shop a wide variety of handmade gifts including ornaments, fine soaps and body products, jellies, honey, and children’s toys. Rub elbows with enthusiasts’ who come each year to add to their collections, browse, begin a collection or do some holiday shopping.

America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration: Day 1 (Plymouth) (7:00 pm-11:00 pm)
Taking place all weekend! The PIDC Patriotic Concert: Performances by Rob Surette, Letters from Home and The Edwards Twins 7 pm-10 pm (doors open at 6pm for general seating). Special guests will be rescue officers, EMT’s and workers from the Boston Marathon. Sunday will feature a special “Pilgrim Progress” with a recreated Pilgrim Sabbath at 8:30 a.m. at the historic village followed by the annual Makepeace Farms Harvest Festival. Christmas Festival of Lights (Carver) (4:00 pm-9:00 pm)
Runs from today through January 1st. Edaville’s Christmas Festival of Lights is arguably the most-loved festival of its kind, having earned generations of loyal fans. Passengers relax comfortably in warm and dry coaches while riding through a spectacular holiday setting featuring an explosion of lights. Kids of all ages will enjoy an array of vintage amusement rides and a visit with Santa in one of our indoor play areas. Stay for a delicious full meal or enjoy seasonal treats.


Saturday, November 23rd

Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair (Acushnet) (10:00 am-2:00 pm)
At the Acushnet Council on Aging on South Main Street. Baked goods, hand made crafts and unique holiday gifts. Kitchen will be open.

Holiday Bazaar (Dartmouth) (10:00 am-3:00 pm)
Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, UCC of 11 Anderson Way will be having their annual Holiday Bazaar November 23, 2013. Stop by to shop at their craft tables, visit vendors, have a special treat from the bake table or a light luncheon.

America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration: Day 2 (Plymouth) (10:30 am-8:00 pm)
Taking place all weekend! Opening ceremonies at 10:30 featuring the Pilgrim ceremonial candle lighting followed by a parade. Special guests will be rescue officers, EMT’s and workers from the Boston Marathon. Sunday will feature a special “Pilgrim Progress” with a recreated Pilgrim Sabbath at 8:30 a.m. at the historic village followed by the annual Makepeace Farms Harvest Festival. The Stetson Experience; America’s Master Mentalist (Mattapoisett) (7:00 pm)
