10 Things to do this Weekend (Jan 09- Jan 11)

image_pdfimage_print

Compared to the seriously frigid temperatures on Thursday, we are in for a “balmy” and “pleasant” weekend. Overnight temperatures will be pretty cold, hovering around 15 degrees and reminding us of Thursday. We will get some snow showers on Friday, but it shouldn’t amount to much. Saturday will be the coldest day with a high of 24 degrees. Brrrr. At least Saturday will have plenty of sunshine!

Work circa 2025.” A robot performs bypass surgery with more accuracy and less complications than a doc, a Chinese manufacturer puts in an order for 1,000,000 robots to be delivered in the next three years (and their manufacturing employment plummets), an algorithm is a legal member of a venture capital firm’s Board of Directors (and is outperforming its humanoid peers), iDiscovery software knocks lawyers by the busload out of work, your car knows you’re having a heart attack before you do and calls an ambulance, and a New Yorker writer goes to taskrabbit to outsource comments on Proust for her forthcoming book group (best, and in fact brilliant, result courtesy a 14-year-old girl from New Jersey).
