Fort Taber Military Park will host a Fair in the Fall to honor 9/11 Victims and Veterans. To promote the three-day event, Dog Tags Navigators will showcase the art of local veterans in an exhibit that opens Friday at the Center Cafe across from Hazelwood Park. Small businesses all over the region, but especially those in the Southend are invited to learn about opportunities to sponsor, volunteer services and reserve tables.

“Dog Tags Navigators is a small team of volunteers that include combat veterans, a journalist and medical professionals who help veterans and their civilian families assemble the necessary evidence needed to prove that their illnesses and injuries are connected to they active duty service,” say Co-Founders Cecil Hickman and David Peters.

At the opening, Dog Tags Navigators will assist struggling veterans and their spouses in filing Fully Developed Claims for benefits through the the Veterans Administration. Since last September 11th, representatives of the largest businesses in the south coast have helped with the Fort Taber event including Baycoast Bank, Bank Five, Southcoast Health, Leadership Southcoast and New Bedford Energy Now.
