State Police from the Middleboro Barracks responded to reports of a two vehicle crash on Route 24 North by exit 15 in the town of Bridgewater.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Adam LeBlanc indicates that a 2005 Toyota Camry was travelling in the left travel lane of Route 24 north, when for reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control of the vehicle, swerved to the right and hit a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. This caused the Camry to swerve left and strike a jersey barrier. The vehicle partially rolled onto its passenger side and came to rest right-side up in the middle travel lane. The operator of the Camry was ejected from the vehicle.

As a result of the crash, a 26 year-old female from Taunton, and sole occupant of the Camry, was flown by Med Flight to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The sole occupant in the Trailblazer, a 51 year-old female from Lakeville was not injured in the crash.

The victim’s name is not being released.

During the initial crash response, the left and middle travel lanes of Route 24 north were closed. At approximately 9:29 a.m., the left lane was opened to traffic. Then at approximately 10:54 a.m., the left and middle lanes were closed for the crash investigation conducted by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS). At approximately 11:55 a.m., all travel lanes were reopened to traffic.

No charges have been filed at this time.
