The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra enters its 99th season!

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 99th season on Saturday, September 20, with the return of one of the most popular NBSO guest artists of all time, Italian pianist Roberto Plano. First Prize Winner of the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Finalist at the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, Laureate of the 2003 Honens International Piano Competition and the 2006 Axa Dublin International Piano Competition, Mr. Plano has performed throughout North America to rave reviews. He will put the audience under his spell when he joins with the NBSO to perform Schumann’s dazzling Piano Concerto in A Minor.

The NBSO, under the direction of Maestro David MacKenzie, will also perform Dukas’s symphonic poem, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, widely recognized from its appearance in the Disney film, Fantasia. Rounding out the evening’s concert is Rimsky-Korsakov’s most popular work, Scheherazade, based on the Arabian Nights tales.

The concert will take place at 7:30pm at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in downtown New Bedford. Free parking is available in the Z Garage. Prior to the concert, Dr. MacKenzie will present his popular pre-concert talk in the Penler Space. For complete concert information, visit the NBSO website at www.nbsymphony.org.
