The Samaritans of Fall River and New Bedford, Inc. seek volunteers for training!
The Samaritans of Fall River & New Bedford has been certified by the American Association of Suicidology (AAS).

Volunteers needed! Answer the call! The Samaritans of Fall River and New Bedford, Inc. will have training classes starting on July 26th. The Samaritans provides a free and confidential Hot Line staffed by caring, trained volunteers available seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This service provides support to those who are alone, depressed or in crisis.

The Samaritans is a non-religious charity, which provides confidential emotional support to any person who is lonely, depressed, or suicidal. Services are offered to the communities of Greater Fall River and Greater New Bedford. Samaritans befriend people in crisis and educate the public about suicide awareness and suicide prevention strategies.

Suicide Awareness Education is an important and effective suicide prevention tool. Through our outreach program, The Samaritans provides education, training on identifying those at risk of suicide and suicide prevention strategies.

Teen Suicide is now thought to be the second leading cause of death for ages 15 through 19 and rising rapidly.

Suicide and the Elderly, those 65 and older have the highest suicide rate of any age group in the United States.

  • Every minute someone attempts suicide.
  • Every 15 minutes someone dies by suicide.
  • Samaritans volunteers are dedicated to the prevention of suicide.
