We’ve changed the date! On Saturday, May 30th, 2015, Community Boating Center (CBC) will host the 9th annual Opening of the Bay Celebration from 6 to 11pm, at Fort Taber Park in New Bedford. Proceeds will benefit CBC’s Summer Youth Program. CBC is dedicated to enriching the lives of local youth by connecting them with mentors and exposing them to a new and challenging environment built upon a foundation of trust and respect. By pairing kids with mentors and using boating as a tool, emphasis is placed on teamwork, integrity, sound judgment, environmental awareness, and improving self-esteem. The vast majority of the children who attend the summer program are from low-income families who simply do not have the ability to pay to attend. Funds generated at Opening of the Bay are used to enable these children to participate free of charge.

Come help us support, promote and celebrate CBC’s mission while enjoying a night of dinner, dancing and silent auction with your friends and colleagues! New this year: CBC’s first annual Opening of the Bay Sailing Challenge! Platinum sponsors will be invited to participate in an afternoon of friendly sailing competition just off of Fort Taber Park!
