New Bedford police recover loaded gun, cocaine in traffic stop

new-bedford-drug-gun-bustLast night at approximately 9pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau, Gang Unit, and members of the State Police gang unit, stopped a 2006 Mercedes Benz in the area of Page and Allen St. Detective Lavar Gilbert had obtained a search warrant for this vehicle and the operator, Joey Wilson.

As a result of the search, detectives found a loaded 44 caliber 5 shot Bulldog revolver, 7 grams of cocaine, digital scale, and $2,617 in cash. 3 additional rounds of ammunition were also found along with an electric stun gun that also works as a flashlight.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court;
Joey Wilson age 19 of Edward St. in New Bedford:

  • Unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
  • Unlawful carrying a firearm
  • Unlawful carrying a loaded firearm
  • Possession of ammunition
  • Possession of an electrical stun gun.
