New Bedford police arrest four men, seize 50 grams of cocaine

Last night at approximately 9:40pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 77 North St. apartment 2 south in New Bedford. This was the culmination of an investigation by Det. Edward Rene into a cocaine delivery service being operated out of the apartment.

A Nissan Pathfinder was stopped shortly after leaving the residence as a result of the investigation. The operator, Merkman, and the passenger, Bevaqua, were taken into custody without incident and brought back to the home. Located within the residence were Daggett-Dextraze and Williams when cocaine was found in plain view on a kitchen counter.

As a result of the search, 50 grams of cocaine, packaging material, a digital scale, cutting agents and $170 in cash was seized.

The drugs have a street value of approximately $2,000.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on various drug charges are;

  • Wayne Bevaqua age 21 of New Bedford
  • Joshua Merkman age 22 of New Bedford
  • Dominik Daggett-Dextraze age 22 of New Bedford
  • Jamal Williams age 23 of New Bedford
