NBSO Presents FREE Public Concerts!

Free and open to the public, on September 18 and 19.

Come hear Italian pianist Roberto Plano play for free before his appearance with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra! The NBSO is making the most of Mr. Plano’s upcoming guest appearance at the season opening concert by hosting two local performances, free and open to the public, on September 18 and 19.

Mr. Plano is First Prize Winner of the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Finalist at the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, and Laureate of the 2003 Honens International Piano Competition and the 2006 Axa Dublin International Piano Competition. At 12 noon on Thursday, September 18, Mr. Plano will perform at Bristol Community College’s Jackson Art Center Theater (Building H). Free parking is available at BCC; lot 11 is nearest the theater. On Friday, September 19, at 5:30pm, Mr. Plano will perform at the Star Store Campus, UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, 715 Purchase Street, in downtown New Bedford. On-street parking is available; additional parking can be found at the nearby Zeiterion Garage. Both 1 hour performances are free and open to the public.

Then on Saturday, September 20, Mr. Plano will be the featured guest artist at the NBSO’s season opening concert, “Spellbound,” where he will perform Schumann’s dazzling Piano Concerto in A Minor. For ticket information, visit www.nbsymphony.org or call the NBSO at 508-999-6276.
