The South Coast Chamber Music Society has merged with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. A free celebratory concert and reception are planned for Friday, June 20, at 7pm at Grace Episcopal Church, 133 School Street, New Bedford. The church is handicap accessible, and all are welcome.

The concert will be an informal and fun mix of great music: selected movements from Haydn’s Oboe Quartet in B Major, Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1, Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Dohnanyi’s Serenade in C, and Crisantemi by Puccini. Performers will include SCCMS and NBSO musicians playing together for the first time: Donna Cobert (oboe), Tim Macri (flute), Janice Weber (piano), Piotr Buczek (violin), Don Krishnaswami (viola), Timothy Roberts (cello), and Nan Lu (violin).

Plans are currently under way for the 2014-15 South Coast Chamber Music Series. The musicians of the SCCMS will continue with the series, and NBSO musicians will be added to the roster to expand program offerings.
