New Bedford Libraries offer amnesty for overdue books

image_pdfimage_print

New Bedford libraries are collecting non-perishable food items for the PACE food bank until December 9th.

The yearly Food for Fees program is an initiative to help get long-overdue library material back to the library. The library faces a huge loss every year of items checked out and not returned due to patrons believing the late fine is more than the cost of the book. The fine will be waived when you bring in the item(s) along with a non-perishable food item(s).

Help the libraries re-stock their shelves with their books while helping the food bank at the same time. You can participate in the food drive even if you don’t have any books to return. Help spread the word on this program by sharing this post with your friends.
