New Bedford Office of Housing and Community Development Partners With MassHousing to Host “Homebuyer Fair”

Homebuyer Fair presented by MassHousing and the City of New Bedford in conjunction with the Fall River/ New Bedford Housing Partnership.

The City of New Bedford Office of Housing and Community Development, MassHousing and the Fall River/ New Bedford Housing Partnership will host a Homebuyer Fair at the Dartmouth Mall on Saturday, October 25th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The fair promises to be a great resource for anyone interested in purchasing or refinancing a home.

The Homebuyer Fair will give potential homebuyers an opportunity to discuss with local lenders and City representatives topics such as special mortgage programs, including the MassHousing “Buy New Bedford” mortgage program, upcoming lottery homes for purchase, down payment and closing cost assistance programs offered by the City, as well as information on refinancing or home repair programs. Information will also be available on upcoming home buyer education classes. Representatives from the Greater New Bedford Association of Realtors will be on hand to answer questions.

The Homebuyer Fair is being sponsored by MassHousing, the City and the Fall River/ New Bedford Housing Partnership. The Housing Partnership is comprised of local lenders including BankFive, Bay Coast Bank, Bristol County Savings Bank, First Citizens Federal Credit Union, Mechanics Co-Operative Bank, St. Anne’s Credit Union and Webster Bank, as well as City and State representatives and social service agencies who are all local stakeholders in the community.

“Whether you’re interested in becoming a first time homebuyer or would like to refinance your home, the Homebuyer Fair is a convenient place to connect with experts and learn more about the available resources,” said Mayor Jon Mitchell.

“The City is pleased to be taking part in this Homebuyer Fair and hopes that residents and anyone thinking of purchasing a home will take advantage of this opportunity to be able to gather information about the home buying process and learn about available financing programs and assistance to help achieve the goal of sustainable homeownership.” said Patrick J. Sullivan, Director of the Office of Housing and Community Development.
