Dartmouth man arrested for breaking and entering

Last night at approximately 9:45pm officers were dispatched to Fish Island near the New Bedford Fairhaven bridge regarding a break into the fishing vessel “Miss Shauna”.

The owner of the vessel was nearby on another boat when he observed the suspect breaking into one of his vessels.

The suspect took tools and personal property and fled the area on foot. The owner chased and cornered the suspect at a nearby gas station and the property was recovered.

He recognized the suspect as he had worked for him in the past.

Officers arrived on scene and placed him under arrest.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on Breaking and Entering charges;

Robert Bariteau age 47 of 28 Shaker Rd. Dartmouth, Ma.
